If you like your muscle cars a little more grown up than the usual Chevelles and winged GTOs, then youve probably already considered Oldsmobile. Cars like this 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass offer the same big engine thrills as those other models but with more polish and sophistication. This one also packs a gorgeous interior, a strong-running 455 cubic inch V8, and a subtle, sophisticated look that will set it apart everywhere it goes. For an adults car, this hardtop has a very elegant look and the burgundy paint is a big part of it. Its older but fairly well done and the color will elicit questions at fueling stops about what color it might be, as onlookers seem to be taken with the big, burgundy coupe. Crisp body lines are a highlight of the 1968 Cutlass, and the sharp crease running along the tops of the fenders make a subtle yet effect styling statement. Finish quality is decent, with a final finish that shines up beautifully and looks great going down the road but its not so perfect that youll be afraid to drive it. Oldsmobile designers werent afraid to use chrome, even on their top performance model, so the bumpers, the grille surround, and side trim are all bright metal that sparkles against the darker paint. This car also has a nice-fitting black vinyl roof thats seldom seen, but now that youve had a look, it really works well, doesnt it? The basic black interior is the jewel in this cars crown, a beautifully finished drivers compartment that shows you why you should own an Oldsmobile instead of a Chevy. Rich materials and handsome pleated patterns make it look far more luxurious and expensive than its price would suggest and the work was done quite recently so its in excellent condition. The seats and door panels are soft high-quality vinyl and the carpets are new, and the fresh 4-spoke steering wheel looks awesome. The factory gauges cover only the bare minimum, so a set of under-dash auxiliary gauges were installed and theres a factory-installed AM/FM radio just above them; dig those knobs! This car also includes ice cold factory A/C, which still uses R12 for best results. The trunk is outfitted with a correct mat and full-sized spare. You couldnt get a 455 in a 1968 Cutlass, but it fits pretty well. Yanked from a full-sized 1969 Olds, it was rebuilt to stock specs about 5000 miles ago. UP top theres a W30 dual-snorkel air cleaner and HEI ignition, and even in stock form, an Olds big block is a formidable machine. With plenty of torque, moving the big coupe is effortless, and rather than pinning you back with explosive acceleration, this one moves like an electric locomotive with a feeling of inevitability about it. Its also bulletproof reliable, so you shouldnt be afraid to hit the road with this Cutlass. The underside is a bit scruffy but shows no critical issues and nothing is hidden, so there will be no surprises. Long-tube headers feed a Flowmaster dual exhaust system and the TH400 3-speed automatic transmission just shrugs off the power running through it. Color-matched Rallye II wheels look right on just about any Oldsmobile of the period, including this Cutlass, and they wear fresh 225/70/14 blackwall radials for a performance look. We like this car a lot. Its attention-getting without being too flashy and it backs it up with solid performance. Theres a lot invested here but the price could be considered a bargain. Call today!
With a sleek design, original V8 power, A/C interior, and that ideal vintage atmosphere, this 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass S is a head-turning classic offered for quite a nice price. Youre looking at ground zero for a styling revolution. 1968 was a new design for the Cutlass, and the sporty short-wheelbase S models got a swoopy Holiday Hardtop option. This was a design revolution that perfectly combined Oldsmobiles premium image with plenty of performance flair. Its arguably one of the best classic car designs ever with the fastback profile, a hint of flying buttress, and chrome bumpers that integrate nicely into the overall design. You can see it so well on this example because it has been treated with the right respect. It was sold brand new only a few hours new from our showroom, and a half-century later, it has only averaged about 1,600 miles annually. Its this good care why the sheetmetal is so straight, and you can close the doors with authority. Plus, there have been some nice investment along the way. There was a professional respray of the factory-correct Scarlet Red to keep this looking bold, and the same goes for the upgrade to polished American racing Torq Thrust wheels. The interior is highly original and quite sharp-looking. Parchment color on the seats nicely showcase the intricate pattern. And the door panels do the same. This has plenty of room for family and friends, and you can keep them all comfortable (even when all the windows are down on this pillarless hardtop) thanks to the cold-blowing factory air conditioning. While the original AM radio is on display to keep the vintage atmosphere, your real tunes are coming from a modern AM/FM/CD stereo tucked away under the seat. So this is great for cruising all day long. Oldsmobile people know that the Olds 350 cubic-inch motor is something very special. They manufactured their own V8 engines during this era. Olds had a different construction than the more famous Chevy, and they have a terrific reputation for robustness. So its great to see the numbers-matching motor still in place. Not only is that bright golden block original, but the two-speed automatic is belied to be as well. This has a four-barrel carburetor, dual exhaust, and likely a mild cam. That gives an extra hint of performance, but this Cutlass coupe never loses its Oldsmobile smoothness. Add in power steering and the grip of modern Kumho tires, and this is remains an easy all-around driver. The sale comes with some nice paperwork, including the original warranty card, line card, owners manual, and other documentation. This is a bright and significant classic offered for a great price, so dont miss your chance. Call now!
No one combines sporty and luxury together as nicely as Oldsmobile. Thats especially true for this 1968 Olds Cutlass Holiday Hardtop coupe with classic red paint, a comfortable A/C interior, and quite correct-looking V8. Add in an affordable price, and you know this is a great deal on a sleek classic. The Olds A-bodies went through a redesign in 1968 to make them the look like the longest, widest, and sleekest car on the road. And the flared fenders, rounded rear, and long pillarless Holiday hardtop silhouette of this coupe makes it an unbeatable classic. Plus, no one did a better job of rear bumper integration in the 60s than Oldsmobile. Up front the era of extra wide cars is showcased on two sets of headlights with so much space in-between that you can fit a horizontal parking light. And that S badge in the center is correct because these coupes were technically the Cutlass S model that designated the sporty shorter wheelbase than the sedans. Thats why it also deserves this stylish red paint. It wasnt born this color, but thanks to a quality high-gloss lacquer finish (yes, true classic lacquer!) people will swear it is. You even have Olds Super Stock wheels with redline tires. So this one really does go the extra mile to look both vintage and sporty. Take some time to really check out the level of correctness in the interior. The Moroceen Parchment is the factory-correct color, and it looks fantastic. The texture on the seats and matching door panels are more reminders of Oldsmobiles more luxurious image. This might be an intermediate size coupe in the 60s, but in todays world that means you have room to easily carry up to five family and friend along with you. And this preserved Cutlass have everything from the AM/FM radio to factory air conditioning to keep them happy. But even if its just you going out for a solo drive, this Cutlass doesnt disappoint. You get the factory three-spoke sports steering wheel, and beyond that is a nice tri-pod gauge setup that makes this feel like a great drivers machine. Under the hood is the unmistakable golden block of the Oldsmobile Rocket V8. This 350 cubic-inch motor is not original to the car, but it is period-correct. Plus, the way its presented, right down to the air topper, will have people always assuming this a survivor-grade coupe. More than just history, we love the Rocket motors for their hardy reputation. Thats what makes this such a great cruiser. Add in features such as power steering, power brakes, and an automatic transmission, and you understand why an Olds is the best choice for Sunday driving. Complete with the original Protect-o-Plate warranty card and owners manual, this is the complete classic. And since its being offered for quite a nice price, you dont want to miss out. Call today!!!
This 1968 Oldsmobile 442 convertible is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The 4-4-2 was Oldsmobiles answer to the Muscle car war of the 60 s. They were stylish and powerful with the quality that people came to expect from Oldsmobile. This beauty is one of the few convertibles left that you will see driving down the road. The car was painted back to its original color of Jade Gold Metallic and it looks stunning. Its almost as if its three different colors depending on the lighting. Put the powered top up and you will see the new black vinyl which helps to show off more of the Metallic gold in the paint. Ofcourse the black stripe on the fender proudly announces that this indeed is a 442. Under the hood is the emphamis 400 that puts out plenty of power to get this drop top down the road. Hooked up to the TH400 transmission which shifts through all 3 gears without a hitch. The rear end is a 12 bolt posi which, in my opinion, is a must in a 60 era s muscle car. Inside the interior is all 68 OLDS with the bucket seats having a console in between. The shifter has been mounted in the middle of that console which is exactly where a Muscle Cars should be. If there was ever a muscle car to be considered comfortable this is the one. Options on this 1968 OLDS 442 convertible include, AC, AM/FM, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Top, Seat Belts, and Rally Wheels with Radial Tires. Has a clean Kentucky title that says 442. But, the VIN says Cutlass, so you be the judge. Powered by a 455 from my grandfather’s 71 Delta 88. The motor was rebuilt in the mid 90s and has less than a 1000 miles per year since. True mileage is unknown. It has a cam, aluminum intake and a 4bbl carb. It’s a strong runner. It steers and stops well. As evident in the pictures, the car needs some TLC. Recent transmission rebuild and new Summit Racing radiator. Black and red parade boots. The red looks the best.
