1967 was a great year for the Chevelle, and when you find a clean hardtop like this, it probably makes sense to build the nicest car you can around it. Bright orange paint doesnt hurt, either, because you want it to get noticed, and with a thumping 454 cubic inch big block under the hood you can afford to have a little swagger on the street. The later Chevelles get a lot of attention, but in 67, the car was elegant, smooth, and restrained, and even in bright colors it doesnt seem to be trying too hard. With a stock hood with those cool inserts to set it apart from all the cars wearing fake cowl-induction units, this very attractive Chevelle was nicely finished but still knows how to have fun on the street. The bodywork is well done and the paint, while shiny and in good shape, does have some surface issues that could probably be wiped out with a professional cut and buff. No stripes or other add-ons, but it does have a SS grille and crossed-flag badges on its flanks, both a part of the SS package that also included a big block engine, so I cant complain about them here. The badges say 427 even though theres a bit more living under the hood today, but the warning is certainly appreciated. The 67s are also neat because of their chrome details, including nice bumpers, bright stainless window trim, and some of the most attractive taillights of the era. With the wicked stance, this is a car that knows it doesnt need to advertise to earn respect on the street. Factory-style black upholstery works rather well with the orange exterior, and its a nice way to keep this car feeling like a proper Chevelle. It has been nicely restored to pretty much stock specs with beautiful new seat covers, door panels, and correct carpets. The bright parts and crisp detailing give it an OEM look inside, particularly the 3-spoke steering wheel and nicely presented instruments, which are joined by a pair of auxiliary gauges under the dash. A console with a ratcheting Hurst shifter looks great and adds to this cars performance credentials. A digital AM/FM stereo radio slots into the original location and even uses original-style knobs so it really blends in nicely and the headliner is in great shape. Even the trunk is conservatively finished with spatter paint and a reproduction mat. So like I said, the badges say 427 but thats actually a newer 454 cubic inch big block thats been built for combat. The extra 27 cubes certainly help with horsepower and with a big cam, Edelbrock Victor Jr 454 intake manifold, Demon 4-barrel carburetor, and full MSD ignition system, it definitely has the moves to live up to its looks. Theres correct Chevy Orange paint, a trick aluminum air cleaner, and big block valve covers, along with a modern serpentine belt drive system for the accessories and a giant aluminum radiator. A TH400 3-speed automatic will take all the punishment the 454 can dish out, as can the heavy-duty rear end, so dont be afraid to lean on the loud pedal now and then. The underside is in good shape, there are disc brakes at all four corners, and a new exhaust system with X-pipe and turn-downs behind the axle sounds suitably aggressive for fun on the street. Chrome Rally wheels look right and are fitted with staggered 15-inch blackwall radials that help with the nasty stance. Nicely turned out and only a little bit sneaky, this is a great-running big block Chevelle thats ready to enjoy. The fact that its bright orange is only icing on the cake. Call today!
When this 1967 Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle convertible rolled in, more than one person simply said, Wow, which I think sums it up brilliantly. The early Chevelle was a clean design, free of many of the styling gimmicks of the era, and was based on some very sturdy hardware that ran for years with only cursory maintenance. And after spending a big pile of cash on the restoration (not counting the car itself), it shouldnt be hard to understand why this one is so impressive. Exceptionally well finished, this Chevelle has all the hallmarks of a car that started out as a solid, high-quality piece and was restored to greatness. Bodywork is impressive, with a uniform look to the sheetmetal, and expert prep under the paint, so theres not a ripple or wave anywhere to be seen. Gaps show that someone cared when putting it back together, and its nice to see that it has all stock sheetmetal, no stripes, and no fake SS badges. It isnt afraid to be what it is. It was refinished in its original color of code F Marina Blue, but no factory paint ever glowed this this car does and its been rubbed and buffed to a very nice shine. Stainless trim has been polished, and Malibu badges installed on the rear quarters, because this car isnt trying to be something its not. A simple pinstripe sets it off and it appears that both bumpers have been straightened and re-chromed. Bench seats make this Chevelle spacious and comfortable, and they present in as-new condition with zero signs of usage on the bright blue seat covers. The original dash is in beautiful condition with crisp woodgraining and bright chrome accents. Youll note this is a factory A/C car, and the system is upgraded with modern hardware and R134a refrigerant working behind the scenes. Just about everything is blue and new, including the carpets, door panels, and even that handsome three-spoke steering wheel. A digital AM/FM stereo has been fitted in the original location but it blends in neatly and doesnt call much attention to itself. The white convertible top fits so well we were almost afraid to put it down, and it includes a contrasting white vinyl boot that looks great against the blue upholstery. And in back, the trunk is finished to stock specs, right down to the full-sized spare with its own matching cover. The engine bay is a nice combination of original parts and quality aftermarket equipment. A 350 cubic inch V8 looks right and makes plenty of power to make the Chevelle a blast on the street. Its been properly dressed in Chevy Orange paint, a stock air cleaner, and even stock exhaust manifolds to make it totally OEM. The 2-barrel carburetor makes good torque and delivers decent fuel economy and all the belts and hoses are new so its ready to cruise. Theres a newer power master cylinder for the front disc brakes and it includes a true dual exhaust system with Flowmasters that let the engine speak with that characteristic small block bark under throttle. The chassis is extremely clean, framing the automatic transmission and 10-bolt rear end, and it rides and handles beautifully. It rolls on a set of classic Cragar SS mags wearing 225/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear BFGoodrich T/A radials. Nicely documented with a great color combination and comfort upgrades like the A/C and power disc brakes, this is one heck of a Chevelle. If GM had unlimited time and money to spend building cars, perhaps every 1967 Chevelle would have looked as good as this bright red SS396 convertible. Its a real code 138 SS and thanks to a stunning restoration with a few smart updates, it makes grown men stop in their tracks. If youre going to build a car that looks this brilliant and attracts this much attention, it had better be able to back it up. Fortunately, its a real-deal SS396, so those looks should probably serve more as a warning than an invitation. Either way, this car is going to have eyeballs all over it wherever it goes, and the paint is just the beginning. The bodywork is crisp and smooth, with great character lines running through the side panels and good alignment on the doors. A stock hood with bright chrome inserts is far cooler than any generic cowl-induction piece would be, and the simple Chevelle look is only enhanced by the lack of a roof. The correct badges and emblems are retained and this car comes by the SS grille legitimately, so you dont have to worry about people calling it a fake. Theres also nice chrome on the bumpers, shiny stainless around the windshield, and a nicely finished posterior, which is the view most folks will see on the street. If youre able to get close to this beast, youll be happy to learn that the interior lives up to the standards set by the bodywork. New upholstery on the seats and door panels, a center console with a proper 4-speed shifter, and a handsome 3-spoke steering wheel that almost looks stock, but isnt quite. Sharp-eyed viewers and Chevelle experts will note that this is a factory A/C car, which is always a pleasant upgrade, and the center console still houses its original Gas Master vacuum gauge, ostensibly designed to improve fuel economy. The rest of the instrument panel is very nicely detailed, with shiny knobs and crisp gauges plus an AM/FM stereo radio in the center. Overhead theres a brand new black convertible top with correct plastic rear window, and the fit is so snug and wrinkle free that you could bounce the proverbial quarter off its surface. The trunk is also nicely finished with spatter paint, reproduction mats, a space-saver spare just in case, plus an Optima battery and master cut-off switch. That big block under the hood is a 1969-dated 396 cubic inch V8 that may look somewhat stock at a glance, but delivers the goods in a big way. A Weiand intake with a Holley 4-barrel makes the intake side, a Mallory Unilite distributor lights the fires, and a set of long-tube headers and a mandrel-bent Flowmaster exhaust system handle the exhaust. All told, it makes this a ferocious car on the street, but one thats happy enough idling in traffic and running pump gas, the perfect combination. Its also nicely detailed with Chevy Orange paint, a few chrome items, and lots of new equipment, including all the lines and hoses, brake master cylinder, power brake booster, and the aluminum radiator up front. The underside is extremely clean, with a 10-bolt rear end hanging just ahead of a new gas tank. It gets that awesome stance from a set of slick Torque Thrust wheels wearing staggered 225/40/18 front and 255/30/20 rear Toyo performance radials. Frame-off restorations arent cheap, and if they didnt have to keep up with an assembly line, I bet the guys who built this car back in 67 would have wanted every Chevelle to be this amazing. This 1967 Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle delivers big fun in a reasonably-priced package and just doesnt seem to be trying too hard to be something its not. Its the kind of car that a lot of guys would love to own and always figure that theyre just too expensive. Well, isnt it time to stop wishing and get into the game? The creamy white paint is low-key but it definitely enhances the image of this clean-looking Chevelle. This neat A-body has the clean, uncluttered lines that made it one of the most popular muscle cars of all time, yet doesnt advertise with add-ons like an aftermarket hood or fake SS badges. Instead, its more like the car you might have owned in, say, 1971 when horsepower was cheap and you could get a clean car like this for not a lot of money. Those long quarter panels are straight, body alignment is good, and with a black pinstripe highlighting the bodys curves, it has a classic look. At first glance you might not notice that its a 4-door, but the clean hardtop profile is why Chevelles remain popular year after year and it gives up very little to its 2-door siblings. The paint is good enough to take to the local cruise night, but you wont worry about it if you have to park it somewhere or get caught in the rain. All the chrome bits look quite good, including both bumpers and the stock Chevelle grille, and we sort of like those big bumper guards, which are an unusual period accessory. The soft parts, including the carpets and dash pad, are in great shape and the doors dont sag, which is critical on the pillarless hardtop models like this. It also includes heavy-duty floor mats, a neat accessory cup holder that slots into the dash, and a trunk big enough for a few weeks worth of travel. Someone spent wisely on the 327 cubic inch V8 under the hood, which looks right wearing Chevy Orange engine enamel and dress up parts like a chrome air cleaner and finned valve covers. Factory double hump heads, HEI ignition, a factory intake manifold, and Holley 4-barrel carburetor help cement the Chevelles performance legacy, even in small block form, and with a burbling dual exhaust system, it sounds great. Power steering and power brakes are nice additions to a family-friendly cruiser, as is the 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission, which offers effortless cruising. The chassis is in very good condition for being mostly original, with plenty of evidence of its lifetime spent down south. The factory suspension hasnt been altered in any radical way, so it still rides and handles as the factory intended and it sits on 17-inch US Mags wheels with staggered performance radials. This car was Born to Run. 67 Chevelles look fast even when they are standing still with their bulging fenders and the sail panel treatment to the back glass. But when you drop in a healthy LS1 engine and add some updated running gear,... well... just turn up the Springsteen and let those horses run. At first glance, this car looks like just another good looking 67 Chevelle. But there is so much more to this car than meets the eye. It has been meticulously stripped down and restored from top to bottom with pictures and build receipts that you should ask your salesperson about. The dash has been upgraded with a carbon fiber panel containing Dakota digital gauges in the stock location. A new headliner and fresh carpeting complete this sweet looking interior nicely. A free flow air filter feeds the intake manifold, which along with the valve covers, has been painted True Blue to match the body. Long tube headers send the exhaust back through Flowmaster mufflers and give the car a nice sound. This setup pumps out a reliable 400+ horsepower as measured on the engine dyno. It sends that power back through a 4-speed automatic transmission to a Ford 9 rear set up with traction lock and 3.89 gears. The chassis dyno shows 322 HP getting to the ground at the back wheels. Up front, tubular control arms with adjustable coil over shocks allow the ride height to be adjusted and give the car its nice chassis rake. An adjustable sway bar allows fine tuning of the handling and 4-wheel disc brakes assure that you can haul this ride back down from speed. The beautiful lines of a 67 Chevelle look even better when they are painted in Marina Blue. Thats a blanket statement, but for an extra treat, it also happens that it is the original color that this car was delivered in new. If you are looking for a nice cruiser, something that will turn heads wherever it goes, but with some room for friends or even luggage for a longer trip, then check this car out. Its a good one. You can see by the way the light reflects off this car that before that pretty Marina Blue paint was sprayed on, the panels were adjusted and the surfaces were properly prepped. Up front a black and chrome grill is flanked by 4 headlights and underlined by a sharp looking wraparound bumper. There is a louvered big block hood showing off a little muscle and a 396 Turbo Jet emblem with crossed racing flags on the fender. Graceful curves flow down the length of the car leading to the Super Sport script that is spelled out on the rear fenders, and the sail panels that define the look of the early Chevelles so nicely flows smoothly into those bulging rear fenders and also onto the trunk lid. A rectangular panel between the tail-lights is body colored and trimmed with chrome piping. A Chevelle badge sits on the right side and another sharp looking bumper underlines it all. Open the door and you will find a very nice looking interior. Its black with chrome highlights and is perfect with the blue and chrome of the body. The door panels are simple and clean with horizontal lines cutting across it highlighted by a slash of chrome at the top and a splash of chrome on the armrest. Have a seat in the comfortable bucket seats and reach out for the deep dish, three-spoke black steering wheel which has an SS center button. The dash behind it has a long rectangular speedometer with a trio of Sunpro gauges mounted under the center to keep accurate track of water temp, oil pressure and voltage. Above them are the ventilation controls as well as an FM/Cassette stereo. The center console it dressed out in black and chrome and holds a clock at the front as well as the T-handle shifter for the automatic transmission. The headliner and the carpets are in great shape and tie the look together nicely. Pop the hood and you will find a tried and true, 350 cubic inch motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. There is a chrome air filter housing feeding clean air to a Holley 4-barrel carburetor and an Edelbrock intake manifold. Finned aluminum valve covers are polished up nicely, look great, and act like oil coolers too while the engine iron is all painted the correct Chevy Orange. Stock exhaust manifolds get the spent gasses out and flowing back to a true dual exhaust system. Power flows back through a 3-speed automatic transmission to a 12-bolt rear end sitting on coil springs and located with trailing arms. Control arms and coil springs get the job done at the front and the rubber hits the road through 225/70R15 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires mounted on Rally wheels with polished trim rings and a chrome bowtie center all around. The 67 Chevelle is considered by many classic car enthusiasts to be the best-looking muscle car of all time. Being a true 138 SS car makes it even more desirable and coating it in shiny Red paint is just icing on the cake. Check it out. Before the paint went on this car it was prepped properly to make sure all the body panels were smooth and lined up properly so that once it was sprayed, the light would reflect off of it and flow smoothly over the bulging contours of the fenders and down the side of the car. The chrome also shines like new with the bumper up front underlining an SS grill with dual headlights on each side. The trim around all the glass received its share of elbow grease to make it shine too and wheel well and rocker moldings compliment Chevelle Rally wheels with polished trim rings and center caps. Super Sport appears on the rear fenders and the flying buttress roofline looks great from the side as it blends smoothly onto the trunk. At the rear, a rectangular black panel has SS 396 in the center with delicate chrome piping edging the panel out and dressing out the taillights. The rectangular theme continues in the interior which lends a rock-solid look and feel to it. Open the door and you will see this in the door panel of horizontal lines with a splash of chrome across the top. The seats have horizontally sewn center panels with smooth vinyl surrounding it. Have a seat and reach out for the black and chrome 3-spoke steering wheel the SS center button and check out the dash. It has chrome piping lining out rectangular panels for the horizontal speedo flanked by the engine gauges on each side of it as well as the controls in the panel above it that runs all the way across. The key is in an interesting place toward the middle of that upper panel to the right of the steering wheel. Below it in a center console is a T-handle shifter for the 3-speed automatic transmission. A sharp looking headliner ties everything together nicely and bowtie floormats keep the carpets protected. Pop the hood and you will find a well dressed 454 cubic inch motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay that has been nicely detailed out. There is a chrome air topper with crossed racing flags and Turbo-Jet 396 Horsepower sticker feeding air to an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and out through stock exhaust manifolds with Flowmaster mufflers downstream adding a nice sound to things. There are chrome valve covers adding their splash of flash to the engine bay and yellow ignition wires reach out from behind the filter. The engine iron is all painted the correct color of Chevy orange and signs of good maintenance include new belts and hoses. Power flows back through a 3-speed automatic transmission to a 10-bolt rear end sitting on coil springs with trailing arms. Up front control arms with coils springs handle steering duties assisted by a power steering pump. The car sits on those good-looking stock steel wheels with polished trim rings and center mounted with BFGoodrich 235/60R15 radials all the way around. This Chevelle SS is the perfect way to blow the doors off of the competition at the track, and then casually cruise away laughing as they trailer their cars home. This monster is packing a balanced and blueprinted 396 with aluminum Edelbrock Heads, Roller Rockers, MSD Ignition, MSD Ultimate HEI Billet Distributor, 750 Double Pumper Demon Carburetor, Hooker Super Competition 2 1/8 Ceramic Coated Headers, and the crown on top is a Race Vortech Supercharger. Has been a registered California car its entire life until 2014 when we moved to Maryland and I have owned the car since 2002. Turbo 400 transmission with manual valve body so it shifts as quickly as you can pull it! 10 point roll cage, aluminum dash and door panels, 12 bolt rear with 3.73 gears with limited slip differential, front and rear sway bars, 10 gallon fuel cell in trunk, equipped with Lo-Jack anti-theft device. Good base for a project to restore to original or drag car, I must admit the paint has seen better days, not bad but not the best.
