1966 was a big year for the GTO. The car went from being the Grand Tempest Option package, to being its own unique model, and started writing its own story, just like a child who grows up, moves out of the house and starts writing their own story. That story has become a well-known and significant part of automotive history. Father Pontiac named it the GTO Tiger, but as happens sometimes, it became best known by its nickname, the Goat. Check it out. Along with moving out on its own there was a change of style with more muscular curves to the body giving it the now classic coke bottle look. Up front, a distinctive front end leads the way with a split grill and vertically stacked quad headlights that are trimmed in chrome with a sharp looking bumper underlining them. Silver is a tough color to get right, but as you look over that distinctive hood and down the sides of the car, you will be hard pressed to find any imperfections and would be proud to enter this car in a show. There is correct badging in the grill as well as on the fenders and trunk. Chrome outlines the wheel wells and polished rocker trim connects them front to rear. The back of the car looks great with taillights that feature a rare louvered cover found only on the GTO surrounded by chrome trim on the top and the bumper with dual exhaust tips peeking out the bottom. Open the door and you will find an interior of black and wood with chrome highlights that is in great condition with no cracking. The door panels are vertically pleated with a GTO badge over the armrest and chrome piping along both the top and bottom. The seats look like new with pleated centers and smooth vinyl surrounds. The wood starts with a deep dish, three spoke steering wheel mounted on a tilt column that sits in front of the wooden dash panel. Gauges are across the top with controls along the bottom and everything works. An updated AM/FM/Cassette player is there for your listening pleasure with an Autogauge trio mounted under the dash to help keep track of critical engine functions. A Pontiac vacuum gauge is mounted on the wood tone center console just in front of the shifter for the automatic trans and the carpet and headliner which are also in great shape finish out the quality look of this interior. Pop the hood and you will find a neat and clean engine bay with a nicely dressed out 400 cubic inch engine nestled down into it. There is a chrome Edelbrock air topper with an Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold underneath it. Black valve covers with Pontiac in brushed lettering look great with the blue paint of the heads and block. There is power steering and power front disc brakes on this car and the belts, hoses, and wiring are all new and neatly routed. If things heat up on a Friday night or at the strip, there is an aluminum radiator to make sure things stay cool. Power flows back through a 3-speed automatic trans and dual Flowmaster mufflers make the car sound great. Steering and brakes have been serviced with parts like the ball joints obviously replaced recently and a stout front sway bar to help out the cornering a bit. The car rides on factory PMD wheels with 225/70R14 mounted all around. Check out this GTO from the first year it moved out and became its own model. You might decide that it needs to move into your garage.
The GTO is often referred to as the original muscle car and this convertible is not only a beautiful rust free vehicle but it runs and drives like new. It is equipped with a completely rebuilt 400 V8 from a '69 GTO and a 4-speed transmission with a completely new clutch assembly. The paint is a strong 71/2-8 out of 10 with a brand new convertible top with glass rear window and new electric motor, pump and hoses. It has a brand new set of factory correct wheels, trim rings and center caps along with redline bias ply tires. The interior is flawless including the upholstery, carpet and a new dashboard. This GTO is a great driver with no overheating or shaking/vibrating issues. We have a PHS report on this car and everything works as it should. This real-deal 1966 Pontiac GTO has an attractive color package, V8 power, and a terrific price for one of the most iconic hardtop classics out there. Mayfair Maize is a great Pontiac color because theres a subtle sophistication. It has the earthtone distinction of the 60s, but this is a far more recent professional application. So you get the kind of shine that gives this classic flying buttress hardtop extra distinction. And speaking of shine, you can also see there has been a nice investment in the brightwork on the form-fitting bumpers, headlight bezels, and full trim. And as a true first-gen GTO, this one knows how to have a nice intimidating presence with the hood scoop, full badging, dual exhaust tips, and iconic Rally II wheels with PMD center caps. Theres plenty of room for family and friends inside with the black interior. You can tell the right investments were made here by the fresh condition of the carpeting, door panels, dash, headliner, and seats. And classic car people will love pointing out the right original features from the wood paneling around the gauges, to the AM radio thats still on display. But even when youre just going solo, this GTO reminds you its a drivers machine. Bucket seats, center console with a floor shift, and a three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel are what classic muscle car cruising is all about. Under the hood is a Pontiac 326 cubic-inch V8. This is an era-correct motor, but not original to the GTO, which leaves the door open for some fun. After all, its a close sibling of the 389ci V8, and so you can enjoy building this into a monster GTO without worrying about hurting the pedigree. But before you go changing this car, also take a look at whats already in the package. It has additions like an aluminum radiator, voltage regulator, newer alternator, newer gas tank, and many more investments. So its already a well-respected setup. Plus, power steering, power brakes, and an automatic transmission make it a fine cruiser right now. This is the real-deal GTO thats ready for the next level or just turn the key and enjoy as-is. Because at this price, the opportunities are endless. Call today!!!
Now Featured in our Denver showroom is this great example of a 1966 Pontiac GTO that has a perfect mix between classic looks and performance! A full restoration and repaint was finished in 2003 and still looks nearly as good as it did the day it was completed. The exterior color is a custom Chrysler Inferno red that gives a deep shine. The body and undercarriage are very clean with no sign of repairs being needed anytime soon. Matching the exterior is the reupholstered Montero red interior that not only looks great but is also very comfortable. The first glimpse of the drivetrain comes right there in the factory option center console where the shifter attached to the M-22 Rock Crusher 4-speed protrudes through. Hooked up in front of the tough transmission is a monster of an engine. Starting as a 400 block, it was bored and stroked out to 467 cubic inch V8 and sounds extraordinarily healthy when it comes to life! The rotating assembly includes; Eagle rods, Ross pistons, and Pro Racing bearings. Roller rocker arms and a Nostalgic roller cam provide a healthy lope that hits you in your chest when standing next to it. The top end includes a set of Edelbrock Performer RPM heads and paired with the headers provides excellent flow required for such an engine. Right on top is the always sought-after Tri-Power Rochester carb set up that was recently rebuilt, tuned, and jetted bringing plenty of air flow and fuel to the mix. Keeping this built up engine at the correct temperature is a Be Cool aluminum radiator equipped with an electric fan in addition to the mechanical one attached to the engine to eliminate any potential issues. As you open the door, slide in the driver s seat, and fire it up any car guy can t help but feel the hairs on the back of their neck stand up from the thump that this car produces. The drive quality matches the rest of the car well with a smooth ride and a bite to back up that bark. It is very tame and mellow when just cruising, but as soon as you roll into the throttle it comes alive! As you roll through the corners, you will be impressed with how well this classic muscle car handles thanks to the handling package that is equipped including upgraded springs, shocks, and a stabilizer bar. Bringing this car back to a stop quickly and safely is a set of power disc brakes up front. This car has been well sorted and very well maintained over the years and is an excellent option for someone looking for a turnkey classic muscle car that is ready to be driven and what better muscle car to pick than the very first and arguably most iconic of them all, the GTO. Recently changed parts include; a new clutch, front rotors, starter, battery, rear shocks, brake vacuum pump, and ignition switch. Full PHS documentation included with the sale of this car! This vehicle is located in our Denver showroom. You can view this 1966 Pontiac GTO in greater detail including HD pictures and an HD video of it running and driving at Gatewayclassiccars.com. Gateway Classic Cars of Atlanta is proud to offer this stunning 1966 Pontiac GTO for sale. This GTO for sale has gone through an extensive amount of restoration. Starting late Summer and going through the Fall of 2016, the entire engine compartment was completely restored back to original. The work was professionally done by one of the National Concourse Judges for the 1966 GTO, the President of the Southeast GTO Association as well as the cars 12-year owner. During the restoration process several pictures were taken to verify the authenticity of this 1966 GTO. This is when the engine number was verified and the XE engine was unique to the California Car. The numbers matching 389 small block V-8 engine still has the original rear main rope seal. Both the carburetor and air cleaner assembly, with the enclosed system leading back to the oil cap on the driver s side valve cover, are unique to the California engine in this California GTO. There are several other engine components that can easily be seen upon casual inspection. Even the voltage regulator along with the engine coil are original. Both exhaust manifolds are original, and the original throttle cable is present and still maintains the red tape on its tip from November 1965! The crown jewel of this motor, however, is the original Air Injection Reactor (AIR) Emissions System. Most people would remove this as it took away horsepower making this part very rare and hard to find. This system has been deveined, so it will not pull air as it originally did which compromised horsepower. The factory 2-speed Super-Turbine 300 Automatic Transmission, power steering, power brakes and Radio-Pushbutton have all been verified and has full PHS documentation. With only 27,610 actual miles this is truly a rare and valuable GTO. Painted in the factory Montero Red showing R-R on the engine tag along with black trim (interior) which was 223 on the engine tag. Several key things were pictured during the restoration of the body such as the original chalk marks that were written by the line workers building this GTO in the factory. Another unique aspect that makes this GTO even more rare is the fact it was built in the Pontiac, Michigan plant. It was very uncommon for a California car to be produced outside of the Fremont, CA plant and shipped to California with compliance equipment installed. Any single attribute, whether being numbers matching, a black plated CA car manufactured outside of the Freemont plant or how it still maintains the Air Emissions System all make for a rare GTO. Having all these attributes along with low actual miles makes this 1966 GTO for sale extremely rare. The full PHS documentation, original window sticker reproduced by Pontiac Historic Services and the original license plate from original Dealership the car was purchased are all included. Also 7 extra air filters are included as they are very rare and hard to find. There is way too much information about this car to be able to list everything, so please call for more details. To view this car in greater detail, including 100+ HD Photos and HD Video, please visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com. For more information, please call the Atlanta showroom at 678-894-4833 or email us at Atlanta@GatewayClassicCars.com.

Beautiful 1966 GTO Convertible with excellent options and numbers matching WS-code 389ci Tri-Power engine! Optioned with 4-speed manual transmission, rare HD aluminum front drum power brakes, quick ratio power steering, Ride & Handling package, Safe-T-Track, and Rally gauges! Factory Montero Red with Black interior! Excellent buy for any astute GTO collector!! Leading into the third year of sales, the GTO continued to find sales soaring from popularity! Because of this, GM finally gave the GTO its own model line versus being a performance package option for the Lemans model series. Also in 1966, Pontiac was beginning development on a new 400ci engine for the 1967 model year making this the last of the 389ci V8 examples ever made! Moreover, it would be the last GTO available with a tri-power carburetion option for the horsepower hungry buyers! The stacked T3 headlights, new aggressive grill and unique louvered taillights made these cars as sinister as they are iconic to the muscle car collectors! This gorgeous 1966 Pontiac GTO convertible is finished in factory correct Montero Red with new White top and Black interior! Sold new from Waynesburg Buick/Pontiac located in Waynesburg, OH in early spring 1966, it comes nicely optioned to include original, numbers matching WS-code 389ci Tri-power V8 mated to a correct Muncie M20 wide ratio 4-speed manual transmission, and 3.55 Safe-T-Track rear end! Other features include correct 14x6" Rally I wheels with whitewall tires, quick ratio power steering, factory Heavy Duty aluminum drum brakes with power assist, Ride & Handling Package, center console, inside day/night mirror, and factory Rally gauge cluster with dash tachometer! We recently reacquired this 1966 GTO Convertible from the former collector of nearly 6 years. We sold it to him after purchasing it from longtime Illinois owner of 16 years (1997-2013). During that time in Illinois, it received a complete engine overhaul in the expert care of Jim Spice, owner of Best in Class, LTD based in Waukegan, IL in 1997. This process included cleaned & boiled block, bore & line hone, resurfaced heads, three-angle valve job, new stainless steel valves & guides, forged aluminum 389 pistons, single moly rings, fresh main bearings, new 068 grind cam & lifters, cam bearings, pushrods, rod bearings, gaskets, new oil pump, water pump, & fuel pump. It now has a brand new engine wiring harness & Pertonix electronic ignition. All the original carburetors were re-plated for correctness, fully rebuilt & detailed, then fitted with new air cleaners. The transmission was also rebuilt entirely by DRC Transmission in 1999 and received a new Centerforce clutch assembly, resurfaced flywheel, new U-joints, rebalanced driveshaft by DriveTrain Service & Components, Inc. and a rebuilt rear end with upgraded 3.90 Posi gear set. All new braking system with flex hoses & stainless steel lines; all new front end suspension with new Monroe shocks & coil springs, upper & lower ball joints, sway bar links & control arm bushings, and tie rod ends. The engine compartment is highly detailed from the efforts of Best in Class, Ltd which also included the front end suspension overhaul. The chassis overall remains original in appearance and is very solid! The front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed. The interior received all new upholstery and seat foams, new carpet and padding, new seat belts, door panels, sail panels, and convertible top boot cover! More recently, the exterior was refinished professionally in November/December 2012 with a brand new base coat/clear coat exterior repaint by Advanced Color Tech. The results are nothing short of superb!! That same year, brand new Rally I wheels and Firestone Deluxe Champion tires were also mounted. Today, the odometer reads just (1)25,915 miles that are said to be 100riginal. The engine and transmission rebuilds were completed at 113,310 miles. It will come with the factory original owners manual, extra keys, service receipts, and complete PHS documentation. This is a very unique opportunity for any GTO collector! Finding a true WS-coded tri-power, 4-speed convertible is growing extremely difficult! Add the rare aluminum front drum brake option and code-correct Montero Red exterior makes it nearly impossible! Please call with any additional questions or to make arrangements to view this car in person! Thanks for looking!

Awesome looks and features. Great news- it was not born a GTO so you save over $20,000! Really, a 4-speed, air conditioned convertible with a ram air tri-power would probably cost $100,000 if it were #s matching. This car has upgrades an original wouldnt have. EXTERIOR: Wow, this is a looker! Color is absolutely gorgeous and I love the 18 inch Rally II wheels. It has a real sharp vibrant blue with a clear coat finish that is polished out like candy. It does have some minor imperfections but people are not going to notice them because the car is so striking. If you look down the sides, the body is straight. It has had full 1/4s replaced. Upfront the bumper is rechromed, headlight bezels are replaced. The trim around the windshield, on top the doors, emblems, handles and mirrors are replaced. In back the trim and bumper is replaced. Windshield is new, weatherstrips are replaced. Great modern twist on the original rally ll wheel. 18x8 cut aluminum made to resemble the original right down to the red center cap, $599 each! They are wrapped in performance G-force BFG tires. The black convertible top is not old but has some wrinkles from being down, if it were mine it would be down too! The plastic window is clear, weatherstrips on the top frame was replaced. Has black top boot. INTERIOR: All new upholstery on the seats, rear armrests, new door panels and front armrests. Window cranks and handles are new. The dash pad has been replaced. It has an original 4-speed center console and it also has the factory rally gauge package with tachometer in the dash. Theres a retro stereo with kick panel speakers and USB port and auxillary plug. Nice cushion grip steering wheel. The carpets are new, has GTO floor mats. Vintage Air vents are neatly installed under the dash. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: I know this is not a numbers match car but the motor is a properly dated 389-360 hp tri-power GTO motor! It is fresh looking, has a clean coat of Pontiac aqua paint and stainless bolts. The 3 carbs have progressive linkage, new choke, air filters and chrome lids. It also has the functional ram air pan that seals against the cut out hood scoop. Dressed up with polished finned valve covers. Polished aluminum radiator and twin electric fans keep it cool. Power brakes with chrome booster, has power steering too. Has an Optima battery with a built-in charger. All new modern heat and air conditioning system. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Clean metal with a coat of spatter paint. UNDERSIDE: Upfront the suspension is completely rebuilt, new springs, Fox gas shocks. Has new disc brake conversion. The bottom of the motor is still spotless. Starter, sending units, steering box look new. Muncie 4-speed looks fresh. In back it has Fox performance gas shocks, new springs. Real nicely bent exhaust with Thrush mufflers that sound great. New fuel tank, straps and electric fuel pump. Floors and frame look solid. Bottom line this car has so many exciting things to offer. It is not a concourse show winner but definitely a peoples choice winner. Imagine the pleasure this car can bring you! (If you happen to be viewing this vehicle on a website other than our main website, its possible that only some of our many photographs of this car are presented due to website limitations. To be sure you access all the photographs, please go to our main website: Garage Kept Motors) Garage Kept Motors is pleased to present this beautiful 1966 Pontiac GTO 2-Door Hardtop Coupe for consideration. The car has been fully restored and remains highly original with some very desirable factory options. It also has the original owner Pontiac Protect-O-Plate, which weve never seen available in a classic GOAT. The car has been fully gone through by our mechanic prior to posting it for sale. It is turn-key and ready for a new garage. Mr. Arthur Picariello, born in 1910 and resident of Philadelphia, PA, purchased this car brand new at the ripe age of 56. At some point, the car came to Michigan. Our client acquired it in 2014 and started the restoration process. In 2017, the car was resprayed in factory original Candlelite Cream (code Y) with a brand new black vinyl top (code 2) installed. The interior remains original standard Black (code 223) with bucket seats and center console. The original 389 motor was replaced with a 1970 455ci V8 that was professionally rebuilt by Performance Engineering, mated to the original Automatic Transmission with center console shifter. It was also upgraded with Pontiac Ram Air exhaust. As stated, this car came heavily optioned from the Framingham Assembly Plant. According to the PHS documentation and Data Tag Codes, the car has the following: Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Factory Air Conditioning, Pushbutton Radio with AM/FM and Electronic Antenna, Verba-Phonic Rear Speaker (included with sale), Custom Seat Belts, Electric Clock, Rally Wheels, Custom Sports Steering Wheel, Console, and Safe-T-Track Rear Axle. Many options here and hard to find, especially combined with others, like power windows and AC. It is also unheard of to have the original Protect-O-Plate with original warranty book and owners manual. Priceless documentation to accompany this car. This is a gorgeous GTO and one of the most desirable model years. The car has been completely restored without any excuses. An incredible classic Pontiac at a reasonable asking price. Mechanically this car is very sound...the brakes steering and transmission all function as they are supposed to. The car came from the factory with Martinique Bronze paint a black vinyl roof and Bronze vinyl interior.
