Gateway Classic Cars has just consigned a really unusual car with this 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado for sale in our Scottsdale showroom. This was the first year for this truly innovative technology that engineers shared between the Oldsmobile and Cadillac divisions to bring FWD to their model line-up. Although this car has an amateur paint job of the original color, Frost Green, it could use a bit of refining to make it look its best. The rest of the car has many new mechanical components like a rebuilt engine and transmission, new steering gear, new battery, alternator, water pump, and more. Its a very reliable driver and was recently driven quite a distance to bring it in to consign. The heat and A/C even work. The green interior is a nice complement to the exterior. Although the car needs some final tinkering to get everything in perfect cosmetic and working order, this classic Olds can be driven reliably now while you work on getting it perfect. These first-gen Toronados are starting to get noticed by collectors and are rising in price because these cars offer unique styling not seen at GM during that time period. Buy this one before they get too expensive. Youre guaranteed not to see another one at the local cruise night, but youll get everyones attention when you pull up in it. Email or text please. This car is currently garaged and can be seen by appointment only in Maitland, FL (Orlando). This is a true survivor 1966 Toronado Deluxe. I inherited this car from my grandmother, who bought it brand new in December 1965. I still have original window sticker, bill of sale, 1966 road map, and owners manual. It sat unused under her carport for over 20 years after she quit driving and I've spent quite allot getting it up and running (over $11,000). The headlights and vacuum pots work fine. To date I've had the following work done: replaced every imaginable brake component (cylinders, hoses, lines, shoes, booster), rebuilt Comfortron air conditioner including new compressor and POA expansion valve, rebuilt radiator, thermostat, all hoses, rebuilt entire vacuum system with new hoses, new water pump, new belts, replaced front and rear shocks, replaced both valve cover gaskets, replaced power steering pump, replaced front sway bars, links, and bushings, replaced blower motor and resistor, replaced 4-barrel carb with factory original, repaired power sets include new power seat motor and control mechanism.I'd say the car is about 75% restored at this point but I don't have the time, space, or mechanical skills to complete the project. The car is currently in running condition, but needs additional work to bring it back to its prime including addressing one inop piston. The body is fair to good -- a few relatively minor rust spots. The interior is excellent for a 50-year old car -- one cigarette burn on passenger side seat.
