Gateway Classic Cars Philadelphia offers this exquisite this striking 1966 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 at our showroom located in West Deptford, NJ! With competition coming from all directions, Oldsmobile came out strong with the introduction of the 4-4-2! While it was a worthy competitor, the 4-4-2 fell short of cubic inches and the straight-line performance seen in cars like the GTO and Chevelle. To answer the call, Oldsmobile prepared a new 400 engine in 1965 and revamped the 4-4-2 package with simulated rear fender scoops and colorful 4-4-2 badges. Thanks to these changes, Oldsmobile saw significant success in their sales and were looking forward to the 1966 model year. This superb 4-4-2 is perhaps one of the nicest examples of the treasured muscle car from 1966 and appears just as it did from the showroom! This beauty received the full treatment with a frame off restoration including the glass being replaced and coded, black interior totally redone and all suspension components rebuilt! Painted in stunning silver metallic, the car has a beautiful finish and it is heavily emphasized with the mirror-finish chrome and brightwork that was all restored! Powering this incredible machine is the numbers matching 400 CID V8, rebuilt 300 miles ago, equipped with the legendary Track Pac, an over-the-counter Tri-Carb conversion kit that boosted power from 350 to 360 horsepower! Perhaps the coolest part of the engine bay is the Outside Air Induction package (OAI). The OAI features dual air scoops that are incorporated in the front bumpers which interestingly forced the relocation of the front turn-signals. To make room for the scoops, the factory moved the turn signals in about a foot! You won t see this on your average Olds! This car really moves and you can feel the power as you shift through all four gears! From the handsome black bench seats to the clean trunk, this 4-4-2 means business and is ready for its next adventure. Call us today to learn more information and make this beauty yours! Additional features include rebuilt side-tachometer, brand new brake and fuel lines, seat belts, battery kill switch and Posi-rear with 4:11 gears. This beautiful numbers matching Royal Mist Blue 442 Convertible has been fully restored to her original glory with less than 1,000 miles on her since the rebuild! Grab hold of the 3 speed Hurst shifter and let loose the ponies inside the 400 V8. The Oldsmobile 4-4-2 (also known as the 442) is a muscle car produced by Oldsmobile between the 1964 and 1980 model years. Introduced as an option package for US-sold F-85 and Cutlass models, it became a model in its own right from 1968 to 1971, spawned the formidable Hurst/Olds in 1968, then reverted to an option through the mid-1970s. The name was revived in the 1980s on the rear-wheel drive Cutlass Supreme and early 1990s as an option package for the new front-wheel drive Cutlass Calais. The 4-4-2 name (pronounced Four-four-two) derives from the original cars four-barrel carburetor, four-speed manual transmission, and dual exhausts. It was originally written 4-4-2 (with badging showing hyphens between the numerals), and remained hyphenated throughout Oldsmobiles use of the designation. Beginning in 1965, the 4-4-2s standard transmission was a 3-speed manual along with optional 2 speed automatic or 4 speed manual, but were still badged as 4-4-2s. By 1968 badging was shortened to simply 442, but Oldsmobile brochures and internal documents continued to use the 4-4-2 model designation. The 1966 4-4-2 shared a modest facelift with other Cutlasses. It came with a 400 CID L78 V8 rated at 350 HP 440 lb-ft with a single four-barrel carburetor. Two new optional 400 ci engines offered even higher performance: the 360 HP L69, with three two-barrel Rochester 2GC carburetors on a progressive linkage and 440 HP of torque, which was priced at US$264.54, and the rare W30. The Holy Grail of the early 442 -- 4 speed, Tri Carb, convertible! One of only 240 with this combination.Incredibly original car showing less than 50K miles. Early build date -- week 2 of October 1965 and body #509 from the Lansing plant probably makes this one of the first Tri Carb 442s built. Has rare E code 400 block.Runs and drives like a dream, body is as tight as you would expect a car with this mileage to be. Interior appears to be completely original -- shows very well with some patina as to be expected. Paint seems to be a mix of original and some repaint -- again, not fresh out of a paint booth, but shows well and as expected with age and mileage. Everything works as it should.Color combination is amazing -- Provincial White with Red interior, set off by new radial Redlines.
