Worldwide Vintage Autos is pleased to present this Rare 1966 Ford BroncoHISTORYThe original Bronco was an off-road vehicle (ORV) intended to compete primarily with Jeep CJ models and the International Harvester Scout. The Broncos small size, riding on a 92-inch (2,337 mm) wheelbase, made it maneuverable for some uses, but impractical as a tow vehicle. The 1966 Bronco was not only Fords first compact SUV its marketing also shows a very early example of promoting a civilian off-roader as a Sports Utility (the two-door pickup version). The idea behind the Bronco began with Ford product manager Donal N. Frey, who also conceived the Ford Mustang; Lee Lacocca pushed the idea through to production. In many ways, the Bronco was a more original concept than the Mustang; whereas the Mustang was based upon the Ford Falcon, the Bronco had a frame, suspension, and body that were not shared with any other vehicle. Rocky Roads performed a major overhaul on this fuel injected Classic Ford Bronco in 2016-2017. It has been optimally set up for daily driving and moderate off road use. It is a freshly restored Classic Ford Bronco with a heavy duty Rocky Roads pre-runner front bumper with push bar and winch with a Rock Solid rear bumper with swing out tire carrier and matching spare. The current owner and RR both put a lot of time, money and hard work into this build, including a professionally installed 5.0 liter fuel injected 302 engine with all new parts. The fuel injectors re-worked and the top-end of the engine was rebuilt by our engine shop. The lower end of the engine was already healthy so no work was needed down there. Rocky Roads installed a freshly restored AOD 4 speed automatic transmission with wide ratio gear kit & all new inners, combined with a rebuilt Dana 20 transfer case, plus added a new tilt shifter on the column. It has late model power steering and power disc brakes, with rebuilt drum brakes in back. The Dana 20 transfer case shifts it in & out of four wheel drive like it should. We also installed an under-dash Vintage A/C system that blows cold air on the passengers during those hot summer days. This Bronco has 4.88 gears and cruises at 65-70MPH on the highway smoothly, not working hard at all, and it gets up and goes from a standing start fairly quickly because of the 4.88 gearing. It has a Dana 44 front axle and a Currie Ford 9" rear axle that have both been gone through. The steering linkages in front have been upgraded to heavy duty 'Clydesdale' steering linkages from Wild Horses, these are the most heavy duty steering parts you can buy over the counter. The suspension consists of James Duff long travel radius arms with heavy duty 11 leaf rear spring packs in the back, with Rancho 9-way adjustable shocks. All of the suspension bushings have been replaced and nothing is needed in the suspension department. It has a Rocky Roads black powder coated front bumper with a 8000LB Warn winch, along with a new black powder coated Rock Solid rear bumper with swing out tire carrier with fuel can rack and cooler rack, plus a matching spare. These bumpers could easily be swapped out if you like chrome bumpers better at almost no charge. The truck has a recent Matte Gray paint job with a Rocky Roads Cowl Induction fiberglass hood. It has a new black powder coated Legend Family 6 point roll cage, with new roll cage to windshield frame braces (to prevent rattles when the top comes off) with a fresh set of Legend black pleated vinyl high back bucket seats in front, with a matching Legend folding rear seat with head rests in back. It has new RR matching black pleated vinyl door panels, rear side panels and tailgate panel. New black roll cage padding & wrapping has been installed, plus all new grade 8 mounting hardware & a new stainless steel body hardware kit. We did an under-body & engine bay pressure wash, blacked out the entire under-carriage including 3M Body Schutz under coating throughout the body tub to prevent future rust. The floor pans have been replaced with new steel (non-ribbed) floor pans. It has a set of new RR black snap-in carpeting mats in front & in back to complement the floor pans. This Bronco comes with a black Rampage soft top with tinted windows and a new black Safari top. It also has a set of new 17x9" Fuel Hostage wheels with 305/65R17 BFG All Terrain tires. It has a new Alpine stereo system with 4 speakers. It also has a new Tuffy locking center console (with no radio compartment) as the radio is now in the dash. This Bronco is still currently with it's owner until we either secure a buyer, or until someone shows serious interest, then we will get the Bronco shipped down to our shop so we can perform a fresh inspection before it ships to the new buyer (if that is what the buyer wants) otherwise it can ship straight from the owner's home in Central California straight to you directly. Priced reduced to: $82,950.00 ...
