The original is still a staple of the muscle car hobby, and this 1965 Pontiac GTO hardtop offers everything that made these cars so popular, then and now. The right color, the 389 Tri-Power V8, and a beautiful interior all make this the car that you always wished youd bought back in the day but never quite managed to get. This is the way GTOs are supposed to look. Not over-restored, not modified with flashy wheels, and the result is a car that gets appreciative looks from everyone who sees it, car enthusiast or not. The 65 GTOs introduced the stacked headlights, which were arguably the most successful styling element of the 60s, and while its flashy, this is a car that commands respect on the street. Its an older repaint thats holding up pretty well and with even gaps all around and a soft shine to the code R Montego Red paint, it still has the right look. Clean and almost devoid of trim, this GTO definitely delivers on the gentlemans hot rod thing that Pontiac was aiming for, and the older restoration does it justice by keeping it as the designers intended. Nice chrome, including the bumpers and rocker panel trim, accentuates the red paint rather nicely, while proper GTO badges on all sides plus the fender emblems, remind onlookers that this is no garden-variety Tempest. A code 218-3E Parchment and Black vinyl interior is beautifully restored and accurately presented, proving once again that Pontiac interiors were the best of the best in the mid-60s. Diagonally-oriented pleats, Pontiac chevrons, and subtly peaked cushions are instantly identifiable, and the fit of the seat covers and carpets is undoubtedly better than new. Sliding behind the wheel, youre relived to find that this GTO carries only the critical parts: a woodgrained steering wheel befitting its image, bright, clear gauges, and precious little else to get in the way of performance. The gauges have fresh lenses and include a factory tach and the original AM radio still lives in the dash, although its currently inoperable. The console is probably original, but its so nice that you arent sure whether to restore it or keep it as-is, and the black carpets are a fantastic contrast to the parchment seats and door panels. Open the trunk and youll find that its correctly trimmed and comes with a full-sized spare tire assembly. Pontiacs famous 389 cubic inch V8 really doesnt need a lot of description, and during the restoration this one was upgraded from a base 4-barrel carb to the mighty Tri-Power configuration, making it entertaining on the street. Its correctly detailed with corporate turquoise engine paint, tidy little air cleaners on the carburetors, and chrome valve covers simply because Pontiac brass new that car guys were going to spend a lot of time admiring this engine. It runs extremely well and the wicked cackle from the Flowmaster dual exhaust system suggests that there might be an upgraded camshaft living inside. The TH400 3-speed automatic transmission is linked to a set of 3.23 gears so its a great cruiser, and the front brakes have been upgraded to power discs. Those handsome Rally II wheels are a great choice on a vintage Goat and theyre fitted with 205/70/14 blackwall radials for a low-key look. Nicely documented with PHS paperwork, this wonderful GTO nails the factory look and delivers performance thats still impressive today. Call now!

Admit it, its the paintwork that first attracted you to this 1965 Pontiac GTO. It has a correct color combo that gives you a flashy red, but in a much more sophisticated presentation. And since this is a real-deal Goat with its original 389 V8 and four-on-the-floor, its allure is much more than just skin deep. Not only is this coupe striking, but it has the kind of story collectors love. Its a one-owner GTO thats spent its entire life in the Nashville area. The Montero Red and Cameo Ivory two-tone is part of the original factory-correct color package, and it has been through a professional respray gives it the kind of luster that makes people take notice. But that might not be what first grabs your attention. Instead, this GTO has a very well-coordinated package where the bumpers, headlight surrounds, hood scoop, and most of the other brightwork were painted a satin sliver. This coordinates with the upgrade to Mickey Thompson wheels, and so the overall impression is a much more uniform and sophisticated total package. Theres even a trunk luggage rack to really nail the Grand Touring aspect of this GTO. Theres more evidence of quality care and maintenance the moment you lay eyes on the correct parchment interior. The bucket seats are crisp right down to the correct arrowhead emblem embossed into each one. Matching door panels with correct GTO emblems and deep dark carpeting make this a true classic muscle car experience. Aiming for a more European feel in the GTO, Pontiac designers gave it a wood grained dashboard with the round rally gauge cluster that includes the very important tach. This car feels like a time machine as you grab the factory steering wheel with your left hand, and your right one will never want to leave the Hurst shifter. This one feels correct right down to the heat/defrost sliders and the AM radio thats still cranking out tunes. Pontiacs famous 389 cubic-inch V8 is a legend that launched the GTOs revolution, so we are happy to have the original, numbers-matching unit still in the engine bay. And while this motor has a great story, the thing people will do when you pop the hood at the car shows is gravitate to whats on top of this V8 first. Thats the allure of the famous tri-power setup of the trio of Rochester two-barrel carburetors. The original intake and carbs are still available, but what this big power configuration signals is this coupes true muscle car usability. In fact, the V8 was rebuilt within the last year to not only include tri-power, but also a hotter cam. You can take full advantage of the motor because the four-speed manual and the rear end were professionally rebuilt as well. So we know how much youre going to enjoy the extra crackle from the V8 as the dual exhaust howls with delight when you decide to drive this stick-shift muscle car legend to its fullest. Complete with original warranty card, this is the perfect mix of preservation and the right upgrades. Its a legendary muscle machine with added power and robustness, and the coupe has never lived outside of its hometown. So now that you understand how special this GTO is, you know you dont want to miss out on the opportunity. Call today!!!
Those with a limited budget should consider purchasing a project vehicle as an option to entering into classic car ownership.
Show and go. This car is ready to do both. And it will probably need that big ol trunk in order to carry all the trophies it will gather up along the way. This car still has its original engine and has been restored right with a binder full of paperwork documenting the job, as well as several GTO restoration guide books that were used as reference along the way. If you have been looking for a well-done GTO, youre done looking. Check it out. First impressions as you approach this car are stunning. There is an aggressive rake to the chassis. Before you even get close enough to see the details clearly, you can tell that the body panels line up nicely and it all looks tight and right. The chrome all looks like new as does the polished stainless around the windows. Mayfair Maize paint is the factory original color and as you get closer, you can tell its near perfect. The view from the front is awesome. That big yellow hood with the double scoop flows down to the split grill between those classic vertical quad headlights with a GTO badge on the right. Down the side you can see the proper GTO badging on the front and rear fenders. At the rear, Horizontal lines of chrome dressing the taillights and the panel between them give a super clean look to the back of the car, and there is more correct Pontiac and GTO badging. Open the door and you will immediately see that the fit and finish of the interior is just as outstanding as the outside of the car. Like the paint, it is the factory correct Black that the car was delivered in new. The door panel has a GTO badge at the top front with chrome piping across the top and bottom. The seats have new foam and springs under the original seat covers adorned in diagonal pleats complete with the Pontiac Arrow embossed into them. Nice. A two-spoke steering wheel with a half round horn ring has a Sun SuperTach mounted to the column just behind it. The dash is super clean with stock gauges mounted in a wood grain panel and control knobs mounted in a chrome trim panel below it. The Hurst shifter for the 4-speed manual transmission falls easily to hand and just begs to be stirred around. A trio of auxiliary Stewart Warner gauges as well as a Pontiac manifold vacuum gauge are mounted under the dash to keep accurate tabs on those critical engine functions. Pop the hood up and you will find that precious, original 389 cubic inch motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. Its a rare treat to see those three Rochester carbs, and this Tri-power setup is polished up and tuned up real nice. The chrome tops to their air filters is complimented by a set of chrome valve covers adding their splash of flash to the engine. The rest of the engine iron is painted the correct Pontiac Blue and of-course all the belts, hoses and ignition components are all new. Also new is a complete wiring harness with a laminated diagram included in the documentation. Power flows back through the 4-speed transmission to the rear axle located by trailing arms and sitting on coil springs. The suspension both front and rear is tight and right with sway bars at both ends helping this car handle nicely too. The rubber meets the road through 215/70R15 Red Line tires mounted on silver steel wheels with polished trim rings and center caps. This is a first class restoration of a numbers matching car. There is a pile of documentation that goes with it, and a pile of smiles it will generate when you take it out and about.
Heres a 1965 Pontiac GTO tribute convertible with a great color combo, four on the floor, and an enhanced V8 heart. A machine like this is built for show and go, and so it will never disappoint. Convertibles are some of the rarest classics around, and so it takes extra time and effort to get the right one for this GTO tribute (remember, Ford basically produced more Mustangs in two weeks of 1965 than Pontiac made LeMans convertibles all year!) But what you really like is the solid investments that made this a shining convertible and a faithful GTO tribute. Nocturne Blue is a great Pontiac color, because it has a deep appearance like a sinister black - exactly how you want a high-performance Pontiac to look. But when the sunlight hits it, this modern clearcoat application has a more sophisticated tone that radiates and really makes people take notice. Plus, you can instantly tell there was time and money spent on the details. You have the aggressive hood scoop; all the trim is straight; correct GTO badging is on every side; and the intricate tail panel is complete. The whole package has plenty of great brightwork, on everything from the big chrome bumpers, to the classic Pontiac Rallye-style wheels. And the way the newer white convertible roof looks against the dark blue paint tells you someone really paid attention to a good color coordination. If you like the way this one looks with the roof up, then youre going to love the way it is with the top down. Thats because the same blue and white appearance continues on the inside. In fact, the way the exterior blue coordinates with the carpeting and door trim, you know this one was built to show off while open to the world. The seats, the door inserts, and all the details feel fresh from investment, so everyone will want to go for a ride in this Pontiac. Theres even an upgraded AM/FM/cassette stereo to keep them all entertained. But no matter how many people go along for the ride, the driver will always be king. Bucket seats, center console, and a woodgrained sports steering wheel give you an individual driving experience. And the Hurst shifter combines with the large gauge panel (including prominent tach) to give you the ideal muscle car experience. Under the hood the tidy turquoise block and polished valve covers look quite right for a GTO, but this tribute has power superiority. Thats because youre looking at a 455 cubic-inch V8 filling the engine bay. GTOs would have to wait until the 70s to get this kind of displacement, but this one has been enhanced to be a true fire-breathing Pontiac. And it doesnt just stop with size. It has a large Holley double-pumper four-barrel carburetor and hi-rise intake, so this big motor inhales deeply. It exhales with a sweet rumble from the H-pipe dual exhaust. Best of all, you have complete control over this power and its soundtrack thanks to the four-speed manual transmission. Plus, with power steering, power brakes (with discs up front), and wide BF Goodrich T/As, this droptop was meant to be enjoyed with ease. Complete with plenty of build receipts, this is the shining tribute that looks great and has serious power. So if you like rarity and rumble, call today!!!
This real-deal 1965 Pontiac GTO has been customized over every inch. So look over the all the details, including the slick paint, A/C interior, and performance V8, and soon youll realize this is the big power machine that knows how to leave a lasting impression. This one has all your favorite elements that makes this the granddaddy of all muscle machines, including the stacked headlights, hood scoop, hardtop profile, full GTO badging, and artful taillight arrangements. But this classic also has a personality all its own. The Indigo Blue mixes a modern clearcoat shine and plenty of metallic element to highlight the crisp sheetmetal. But what really makes this stand out is the custom white, magenta, and teal arrangement that starts at the front fender and artfully dances its way down the profile. And those 17-inch Boyd Coddington wheels have a terrific shine to go with all that bright trim and wraparound bumpers. Its a total custom appearance that announces someone made some big investments in this GTO (it spent 2+ years in restoration.) The custom presentation continues inside. You still get Pontiacs classic arrowhead pattern on the bucket seats, but it was custom crafted into a comfy velour setup. In fact, this classic coupe has some more terrific comfort upgrades like the AM/FM/CD/XM stereo featuring Bluetooth and cold-blowing R134a air conditioning. But comfy doesnt mean this is a pure coddler. This GTO was made to eat the streets. Your right hand will get a tingle of performance the moment it touches the B&M shifter. And that feeling continues as your left hand grabs the sports steering wheel and you gaze across the dash full of AutoMeter Sport-Comp gauges. While the interior and exterior are already worth showing off, we know youll really be proud to lift the hood wherever you park this GTO. The tidy black walls filter all your attention to the motor, and we dare you to find another component that could receive a mirror-like polish. But more than just style, you have serious substance. The 468 cubic-inch V8 is larger than anything ever offered in a GTO. It started life as a 455 V8 before thousands $$ were spent during the engine build in 2004. It includes a bored .60 over kit, steel crank, roller rockers, newer serpentine belt drive system, aluminum radiator, Ram Air IV heads, and topped with a Holley four-barrel carburetor. Its a big power package, and the growl from the header-fed H-pipe dual exhaust lets the world know your superiority. Getting the power to the ground is a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission with a shift kit to keep you in the optimal power band. And this feeds a stout 12-bolt rear end with versatile 3.08 gears. Add in power steering, front disc brakes, and thick sway bars front & rear, and this street machine is a fine all-around classic. The sale comes complete with Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) paperwork, reproduction window sticker, owners manual, and maintenance records. This is the distinct, custom, and big power GTO youve been waiting for, so dont let it slip away. Call today!!!
Our Detroit Showroom is proud to offer the king of the muscle cars. This 1965 Pontiac GTO is a great example of what American Muscle is all about. GTO s are what legends are made of and when the Pontiac GTO was introduced to America in September 1963, it created an entirely new market segment that sparked a reaction throughout the auto industry. Today we know that reaction as the muscle-car era. By 1966, all the domestic automobile manufacturers had their response to the GTO. Some were good, some were hastily slapped together, and others missed the mark altogether. It could be argued that none of them possessed the combination of performance, style, image, and affordability of the GTO. This Tri-Power 389ci V-8 is mated to 4 speed manual transmission. This combination is the one you want and really puts the power to the pavement. Some nice upgrades include the MSD 6AL ignition, tubular headers w/ dual flowmaster exhaust. This GTO looks very aggressive in beautiful Red with Black vinyl interior and is set off by its chrome Cragar wheels and redline tires. If you are looking for the iconic muscle car that started it all, this GTO is ready for your collection. For more information including over 120HD photos and video, visit www.GatewayClassicCars.com . Very few cars have survived this long and remained in this great of condition without being totally restored! This beautiful 1965 GTO Convertible in cameo ivory paint truly is untouched and still retains the original equipment that it rolled off the showroom floor with when it was brand new. The numbers matching 389 cubic inch V8 has been rebuilt with less than 2,500 miles on it since rebuild and fires up with ease thank to the meticulous maintenance through the years. If the condition of this car isn t enough to attest to the great care taken then the binder full of receipts will take you on a trip through history also. Sitting behind the wheel of this muscle car is definitely a privilege. Gripping the shifter for the 4 speed Muncie transmission that was a rear option for these cars really transports you back in time and makes you feel like you are speeding even while sitting still. Exhaust gases are expelled through a set of dual stainless steel Flowmasters. Giving the car it s stance are the chrome Crager wheels wrapped in radial tires. But if those are not your style the original wheels and hub caps are included. Chrome dash accents along with hardware compliment the black interior. Keeping you cool while you enjoy the ride is the dealer installed air conditioning. If you are more into cruising with the top down then you will truly appreciate the recently replaced black power convertible top! Full PHS documentation package is included with the sale of this GTO as well as a protecto plate and original manuals. The Atlanta Showroom is offering this 1965 Pontiac GTO for sale. The GTO was restyled for the 1965 model year. It sported Pontiacs characteristic vertically stacked quad headlights. Overall weight increased while the brake lining area increased nearly 15%. The dashboard design was improved, and an optional rally gauge cluster added a more legible tachometer and oil pressure gauge. The 389 engine had revised cylinder heads with re-cored intake passages, improving breathing. Rated power increased to the Tri-Power was rated 360hp. Transmission and axle ratio choices remained the same. The restyled GTO had a new simulated hood scoop. A rare, dealer-installed option was a metal under hood pan and gaskets that allowed the scoop to be opened, transforming a cosmetic device into a functional cold air intake. With two testers and equipment aboard, they recorded 0-60 miles per hour in 5.8 seconds, the standing quarter mile in 14.5 seconds with a trap speed of 100 miles per hour, and an observed top speed of 114. This GTO has the 389ci V-8 with the 4-speed manual. This goat sports a new top, new tires, original rebuilt front end parts, new water pump, harmonic balancer, and original service book. This is an owner stated original GTO. Triple black GTO convertible they don t get much better. This is a Pontiac enthusiast s ground-up vision of what a modern, Pro-Touring GTO should have been. Reliable enough to be driven on a daily basis, right at home in a car show, or a beast on a track. With just 1,000 test miles on the build, this Goat is raring to go. Starting with a low-mileage, rust free California car, the frame was inspected and modified to allow low mounting of A/C compressor and four wheel coil over suspension. The frame was then continuously seam welded, sandblasted, epoxy primed, and painted gloss black. Rust proofing was also sprayed inside of frame. Power is provided by an LS1 with stage 2 heads, Comp cam, and Kooks stainless long tube headers all backed by a Tremec 6 speed manual transmission and 12 bolt posi-traction rear with 3:73 gears putting well over 400 horse power to the wheels. Special care was taken to conceal wiring and hoses in the engine bay, the firewall was smoothed and painted gloss black, as were the inner fenders and radiator support. Front suspension includes power rack and pinion steering, tubular control arms, 2 dropped spindles Viking double adjustable coilovers, and 1.25 stabilizer bar. Rear has double adjustable coil-overs, adjustable boxed control arms, 1 stabilizer bar, and Edelbrock chassis bracing. Brakes are Wilwood 4-wheel disk with drilled and slotted rotors. This GTO is equipped with digital dash, tilt and locking steering column, Mark 4 A/C, power windows, power locks, keyless entry, and Trans- Am power seats (upholstered in 65 pattern). Convertible top has tempered glass rear window, and all mechanisms and hoses are new. Computer, relays and battery are mounted in trunk behind a upholstered and embroidered panel. The exterior paint is Mercedes silver, and really is show quality. All work was professionally performed, and all the modifications resulted in a great handling car with near perfect 50/50 weight distribution that is powerful and extremely reliable. Drive it, autocross it, or show it; this car is comfortable in any setting. Additional info available upon request. Options include: AC, AM/F, Radio, Automatic Convertible Top, Cruise Control, Lumbar Support, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Locks, Power Seats, Power Windows, Tilt Wheel, Keyless Entry, Seat Belts, Anti-Theft System, Vinyl Interior, Radial Tires and Aluminum Wheels. Little GTO You re really lookin fine You can almost hear the song as you ride in this beautiful 1965 Pontiac GTO. This amazing numbers matching convertible packs a 389 cubic inch V8 engine, with added Tri-Power intake and Posi-Traction rear end and 323 gear ratio. It also comes with the protecto plate and Pontiac Historical Services documentation. The GTO s creation involved transforming the upcoming second-generation Pontiac Tempest into a Super Tempest, or Grand Tempest Option, with a larger 389 cu in Pontiac V8 engine from the full-sized Pontiac Catalina and Bonneville in place of the standard 326 cu in V8. By promoting the big-engine Grand Tempest as a special high-performance model, they could appeal to the speed-minded youth market. The GTO disregarded GMs policy limiting the A-body intermediate line to a maximum engine displacement of 330 cu in (5.4 L). Pontiac general manager Elliot Pete Estes approved the new model, although sales manager Frank Bridge, who did not believe it would find a market, insisted on limiting initial production to 5,000 cars. This beautiful 1965 GTO is for sale in our Milwaukee Showroom and can be seen at www.GatewayClassicCars.com, or call (262) 891-4253 for additional information. Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to offer one very cool 1965 Pontiac GTO. You won t be able to help yourself from humming Little GTO when you fire up this bright red beauty. As Ronnie and the Daytonas sung in their 60 s classic, Turn it on, wind it up, blow it out, GTO . This 65 has the iconic 3 deuces and a 4 speed that any Pontiac fan can appreciate. It sports a Pontiac 400 from a 1968, but still has the look and feel you d expect from a 65. The snappy red exterior is set off with a set of polished Cragar SSs wrapped in white wall tires. This one sports a unique white vinyl top which matches the white vinyl interior. Front buckets and a floor shifter leave no questioning what type of car this is: a true muscle car. This is however, the gentleman s muscle car, so a wood rimming steering wheel and wood grain dash dress up the cabin. Power steering and power brakes are a must in a full sized car with the power that this one has. When you hit wide open throttle, you can hear all 3 carbs gulping fresh air to feed the beast. Needless to say, they just don t make them like they used to. This little slice of muscle car history is available in our Dallas showroom. Yes, this is a real GTO born with the extremely desirable tri-power and a 4-speed! Documented by Pontiac Historical Service. It was frame off restored. EXTERIOR: Its color combination is gorgeous. The burgundy has small metal flake that really glistens in the sun. Ive owned a few 65 GTOs, these cars have big flat panels that are hard to get straight. I look down the sides of this car and its as straight as a chalkboard. The paint looks wet, it has a clear coat finish polished like glass. Up front the bumper is rechromed, grills and headlight bezels are in excellent original condition. Same thing in back- bumper is rechromed, tail light panel is very good original. The stainless trim around the top and windows are new. Emblems, mirror are new, wiper arms are polished. Has correct antenna. The windshield has been replaced, new vinyl top. New set of correct Rally 1 wheels on reproduction Wide Oval redlines. INTERIOR: Great color against the burgundy exterior. They found an original set of pearl white seats that have never been reupholstered. Door panels and armrests were replaced. The white metal was repainted. White headliner was replaced, original visors. Carpet was replaced, has reproduction floormats. Dash area is mint. Has the rally gauges including tachometer. The knobs, bezel, horn ring are mint. Has original radio, under the dash is an FM adapter. Interior light works. Very tidy inside this car, not cut up or beat up or altered. It does have original seat belts in front. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has a correct 1965 389 tri-power motor. The engine was just rebuilt and balanced. Has a fresh coat of the correct color. The carbs are restored and all function. When you mash the pedal you will actually hear the carbs roar. Everything is detailed. It has correct chrome valve covers, GM hoses and clamps, spring clamp battery cables. All the components are clean and proper. Under the hood is satin black and has the insullation, hinges are painted raw metal gray. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Big clean trunk, all smooth clean metal. No signs of any patches, 1/4 panels appear to be original. Has a good coat of spatter finish paint. Under the trunk lid and the jamb is painted gloss burgundy. Has new weatherstrip and decal. UNDERSIDE: Underneath this car is restored. The body was off the frame. All metal floors have a clean coT of satin black. The chassis is gloss black. The front end was rebuilt- new ball joints, bushings, shocks etc. Bottom of motor is still spotless. The Muncie 4-speed is spotless, new clutch. In back it has original 3.55 posi, new shocks and springs. New fuel tank and lines. Brakes were redone, new lines. E-brake is hooked up. Has Flowmaster exhaust with crossover pipe. 3 dueces and a 4-speed, its so cool they made a song about it! This is a great example of one of the most desirable muscle cars of all time!
