1965 Ford Falcon Convertible Originally Edsel Ford wanted to use the Falcon name for a car in 1936, but he was out voted on the use of this name. Ford would have to wait until 1960 to actually use that name. The Second generation of the Ford Falcon began in 1964 with a more squared off design, and many upgrades including an engine upgrade. The convertible option for this year only produced 6,191 units, and half way through the year, this option was discontinued. A frame up restoration, with painstaking attention to detail is presented with this Falcon Futura (bench seat) convertible. Beautiful custom paint, all redone mechanicals, as well as every square inch of the frame and undercarriage was meticulously restored. A beautiful example of the year, but even better with some tasteful customization thrown in for good measure. Exterior A beautiful blue which magically transforms itself into with the use of pearlescent purple at various viewing angles covers the carefully hammered, and straight exterior panels. A swath of white, emulating a jet trail, is bordered by intense purple pin-striping for edging, is seen through the belt of this car. Bumpers, badging, and bright work are all in very good condition, and correct for this model year. Eagle alloy wheels are on all 4 corners and are wrapped with P205/65-R15 Toyo radials. A cream colored, electrically actuated convertible top is very clean, and free from any major scratches, and cloudiness on the rear window. The underside views of this car are as immaculate as the topside and show some of the work that went into this restoration. Interior Front split bench, and rear bench seats carry the exterior color perfectly into the passenger space. Blue cloth tweed with vertical stitching in the centers are surrounded by complimentary blue vinyl piping, and vinyl bolsters. Heavy use of chrome can be seen at the hinge area of the front seats, and this sits in a sea of nicely done greenish blue carpet throughout. An original padded dash (new for 1965) tops a blue metal front dash plank that is loaded with original radio, gauges, glovebox, and essential knobs. An original Falcon steering wheel fronts the plank and is in fair condition. An automatic shifter is seen on the tree. Aftermarket speakers adorn the lower tub area and put out some sound that could put you in the front row at the Grateful Dead Concert. Drivetrain The High performance 289ci V8 takes its place under the hood and is topped by the original Ford Falcon chromed air cleaner. An Edelbrock intake manifold is seen atop the pristine engine. A 3-speed automatic is attached to the back of the engine and pushes the car smoothly down the road. LOOK! Its a bird....no its a plane....no its a Falcon, and it has really cool paint, and has been restored, so now I dont have to do it... And its a convertible. Lets go and take it up Main Street and have a 1 car parade and car show. You know turn some heads!

What we have here is an automotive version of Rip Van Winkle. This 1965 Ford Falcon Sprint spent a substantial part of its life safely ensconced in a protective shelter, only to re-emerge looking just as it did long ago while the world around it continued to age. It sports a rare interior configuration and is a proven show winner, driving away with trophy hardware from the Falcon Club of America, as well as the Antique Automobile Club of America. The Falcon is more than just an appealing vintage Ford, its a very pivotal car, as well, having started out as the pet project of eventual U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara as well as serving as the direct precursor to the ultra-popular Mustang, to whom it lent its unibody construction and suspension design. The Rangoon red paint draped over the exterior of this 65 matches its original shade and because it was so well applied and the car has been so safely sheltered, its in great shape, as are the other elements of the exterior. The bright work looks very strong from front to back, fresh weatherstripping has been added to keep the elements out, and clear windows surround the cabin. Both its array of badging and body alignment are also on point. Due to heavy demand, Ford produced a sizable number of Falcons in the mid-60s, but very few sport the interior configuration that this one does. Peer inside and youll see that factory buckets sit in place of the far more common bench seat in front with a center console - a rare option in and of itself during the time - running between them. The interior features the same black shade this Falcon rolled off the line with so many years ago, and its been brought back to quite an impressive condition. The seating in both front and back shows very little wear and the door panels to each side, as well as the carpeting below, reflect the same condition. Take your place in the drivers seat and youll be greeted by the original, generously proportioned steering wheel, while just forward the dash has also been skillfully refurbished and houses crystal clear, fully functional gauges, with an assortment of control knobs and switches that also work just as intended. A fresh-looking dash pad runs across the top, while at the center of the dash, the original AM radio is still in place to offer its period correct audio technology. The trunk area looks showroom fresh, with a vinyl liner on its floor and a full size spare on standby. The same high standards are found under the hood, where a 289 cubic inch V8 sits between the shock towers, surrounded by neatly painted inner fenders and firewall. The power plant itself is impeccably dressed, wearing a nicely badged chrome air cleaner over its 2-barrel carb and a pair of chrome valve covers to either side of its precisely painted block. All the aesthetic details have been well looked after here - the hoses all look fresh, the wiring is neatly routed and theres no grime buildup anywhere in sight. The powerplant pairs with a period correct 3-speed automatic C4 transmission that holds a strong reputation thats reinforced by the fact that so many of them are still on the road today. Just as you would expect from looking at the rest of the car, the undercarriage presents very well - its suspension components and floorpans look very solid and its overall condition suggests this classic Ford has been treated with plenty of respect. With its unusually clean look and strong running condition, this 1965 Ford Falcon Sprint represents the chance to get behind the wheel of a meticulously restored, seldom-seen classic. Call today!
For a car originally conceived to provide dependable transportation, the Falcon has enjoyed quite a life as a coveted classic for restoration. It was a relatively compact car based on the standards of its day, and its reliable design would go on to influence several other Ford models to come. Its great to see this 1965 Ford Falcon Futura greet the present in good form and ready for the next phase of its life. This venerable ride is in solid shape to drive as is, or if you prefer, it can provide a rock-solid foundation for any upgraded components you might wish to add. At a time when most other cars remained substantially sized, Ford stuck to its guns and resisted the temptation to noticeably enlarge the Falcon over the years. While its certainly no subcompact, its a compact, sporty looking ride, with a squared off appearance that distinguishes it from its predecessors. The deep maroon paint this 65 wears looks nice, showing no major blemishes, and the long stretches of white on its sides add some effective additional detail. From the grille and Ford lettering that sit over a table-level bumper in front, to the futuristic round taillights in back, all of its chrome is present and accounted for, though some of it could use a little polishing to bring out its best. Some very adept modification work was done to provide the dual exhaust with just the right amount of extension below the rear bumper. A contrasting power white convertible top has been recently added to this open-air cruiser for protection from uncooperative weather and it rises into place without issue, fits great and features a clear plastic rear window. The black vinyl interior has come through the years in good shape. The seating shows only minor wear up front and virtually none in back and looks sharp over clean black carpeting. The woodgrain steering wheel sitting on its column is about the only deviation from factory configuration inside, and the components that surround it still present well. The dash area is particularly impressive - its individual panels still line up and the broad speedometer and round gauges to either side of it remain clear and easily readable. The dash pad does show some cracking, but thats an easy fix. For a modestly sized car, theres a surprising amount of legroom in back - no contortions needed from your backseat passengers. The trunk area is also fairly spacious, its floor lined with signature Ford fabric. The engine compartment has held onto its stock look and is nice and clean. A 289-cubic inch V8 fits well between the shock towers, looking sharp with its chrome air cleaner and valve covers. The 289 has forged a strong reputation for its complaint-free durability - there are still a substantial number of them on the road many decades after they were first introduced and, true to form, the one on display here still starts promptly, teaming with a 3-speed automatic C4 transmission to make up a dependable, low-effort drivetrain. A look below will reveal an impressive undercarriage, with solid-looking floorpans and straight suspension components. This sharp looking classic rides on a set of 14 stock Ford wheels outfitted with Cornell 1000 tires. Its a rare find to begin with, and the solid condition of this 1965 Ford Falcon Futura makes it even more so. Call today!

Here is a one of a kind automobile that my father built from the ground up. Almost everything on this car is brand new. At the heart is a crate engine from Bennett Racing. It is a small block 427 cubic inch motor with about 650 hp. The motor alone cost almost $17,000. Specs: Engine: 427 ci small block ford from Bennett Racing (650hp) Transmission: Tremec TKO 600 5 speed. This transmission was built by a reputable company especially to withstand the extra power.
