This clean, sleek-looking 1964 Ford Fairlane packs a nasty surprise for anyone foolish enough to pick a fight. Its a brutal look with a great color combination, but where it really shines is under the skin where youll find a built 572 cubic inch V8, a 6-speed manual, and a chassis built to use every single last horsepower. If thats your kind of fun, this incredible car deserves a closer look. The Fairlane often gets overlooked with all those Mustangs running around, and thats really a shame. The clean, chiseled lines of this coupe are the perfect blend of 60s sensibility and sporty attitude, and the combination of black and red with the Thunderbolt hood gives tradition a bit of a modern edge. The paint is quite well done and professionally finished, and its probably too nice to race but too fast to just cruise. This car isnt going to keep a low profile anyway, and the gorgeous paint really makes a statement. The bodywork was nicely done and the steel underneath is in very good condition thanks to a lifetime someplace away from snow and salt. A charcoal gray stripe separating the colors adds to the sporting attitude and we have to admit that the relative lack of trim really works well on the Fairlane. Most of the bright stuff was removed, but things like the bumpers and window frames were painted to match the bodywork, and those air cleaner sticking out of the headlight buckets like cannons is just too cool. The super slick overall look suggests that theres absolutely nothing on this car that wasnt completely intentional. The interior was built for combat but keeps things civilized, preserving the idea that this really is a street car. The two-tone black and red upholstery keeps the exteriors color theme going and makes it look very up-to-date at the same time. Like the bodywork, it was quite well done, and its holding up well with no splits or tears and it still makes for an effective place to do some serious driving, which well talk about in a moment. Aside from the full cage and race seats with harnesses, the three-spoke steering wheel and a B&M shifter on the floor are minor giveaways that suggest this isnt your average custom build. Custom Auto Meter gauges in a flamed-out dash give you a full view of the engines health, and the entire dash was reworked to accommodate the molded-in tach. The shifter knob says its a 4-speed, but there are actually six gears inside the transmission, making this Fairlane a whole lot of fun to drive. The beautifully finished trunk carries a custom fuel cell, battery, and a set of oversized wheel tubs hidden behind an aluminum bulkhead. The powerplant is a stout 572 cubic inch V8, and youd better believe it makes for some very exciting performance. It was built by Al Moody and is based on an SVO 460 block with a square 4.5-inch bore and stroke. Eagle rods, JE pistons with 10.5:1 compression, a Comp Cams solid lifter camshaft, roller rockers, Trick Flow aluminum heads, and a custom high-rise intake manifold with a 1050 Dominator carburetor all add up to 839 horsepower and 779 pounds of torque on the dyno. Yikes! The 6-speed snaps through the gears with authority and a custom narrowed 9-inch housing with Strange 31-spline axles and 4.56 gears delivers the twist. Obviously the custom tube chassis was designed to handle those giant tires, with a set of ladder bars trying to keep it straight. Up front theres a custom A-arm setup with rack-and-pinion steering, and the custom headers with straight exhaust sound absolutely monstrous. Big-n-little Centerline Convo-Pro wheels carry 215/60/15 front and 31x18.50-15 tires that make it sit just right. An extremely cool car with a lot more horsepower than youd expect, all wrapped in a package that promises a lot and delivers even more. Call today!

Powering the Fairlane is a 289 V8 motor mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Originally from Ford, this powerplant produced 225 horsepower. Boosting these numbers is an upgraded cam and headers. Other features of this beauty inlcude new front disc brakes; dual master cylinder, upper and lower ball joints, tie rods, coil and leaf springs, heater core, aluminum radiator, wheels, and tires. The Fairlane is an impressive mix of style and class. Please call or email us today for more information. The fourth generation Ford Fairlane was introduced in 1962. It bridged the gap between the compact Ford Falcon and the full-sized Galaxie. Like both the Galaxie and falcon, the Fairlane had a unibody frame but incorporated an unusual feature called torque boxes. These structures were designed to absorb road shock by moving slightly in the vertical plane. the standard engine was the 170 CID (2.8 L) six-cylinder. But as an option, Ford introduced its new Windsor V8, initially with a displacement of 221 CID (3.6 L). Eventually, in 1963 Ford upgraded the performance by offering the Challenger 289 CID engine. Any way you cut it, the Fairlane is an incredible machine and a valuable piece of American automotive history. One of the best-looking 2 door sedans of the 60s just got even better. Heres a 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 that has undergone a rotisserie restoration with stunning paint, overdrive transmission, and a comfortable A/C interior to be the ultimate pro touring machine. And oh yeah, did we mention the professionally-built 830 horsepower twin turbo V8?!?! The upgrades to this 2 door sedan are subtle at first. The wide chrome bumpers shine like mirrors; the headlights are crystal-clear; the full-length trim looks like an unbroken line on the super-straight sheetmetal; the jet-inspired taillights are bright like afterburners; and theres a terrific application of legendary Wimbledon White that takes advantage of modern clearcoat depth. All of this makes for an impressive presentation on one the best family-sized coupe designs ever to come from Detroit. But more than just a fine presentation, those genuine Halibrand wheels (extra-wide in the rear) and the lowered stance hint at all the upgrades beneath the surface. More of this incognito attitude awaits when you open the door. This Fairlane was a labor of love, and so the owner spent plenty of time and effort sourcing the right NOS parts to restore the Ivy Gold interior. The result feels like a 1960s time capsule as you look at the detail of the seats, door panels, headliner, carpeting, and even the trunk. And this all still feels so fresh because there is less than 3,000 miles on the car since this trek for the correct components was completed. But this was a classic that he wanted to spend real time in, and so there are also great upgrades like an Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo and ice-cold R134a air conditioning. While the steering wheel and the gauges have that perfect old-school feel, upgrades like the auxiliary readout trio, TCI Thunder Stick shifter, and shift light on the dash are all more hints at the beast within. When you lift the hood, the presentation is worth awards all on its own. The super tidy setup lets you see the sleek painted inner-fenders. Plus, painting the intake, air topper, and valve covers to match the whole car will draw more attention than chrome ever could. And beneath this show-stopping style is one of the best power packages youll ever find. It starts with a Dart 374 cubic-inch V8 block. Duffee Motorsports built this with AFR aluminum heads, Accel fuel injection, headers, twin 59mm Garrett turbos w/Turbonetics wastegates, and air to air intercooler. This is rated at 830 horsepower on premium pump gas, and with the right programming and fuel, this could be a 1,000+ hp sleeper! Something this ferocious needs all the right supporting components. Thats why its mated to more modern AOD-E four-speed automatic built by FB Performance Transmission. This feeds a Currie 9-inch rear end with limited slip and Daytona pinion. The suspension has been seriously upgraded with 95 Mustang spindles, a thick sway bar, and Tokico coilover shocks up front. The rear is a strong custom three-link with adjustable QA1 coilovers. Plus, those wide Mickey Thompson drag radials in the rear are the best kind of rubber you want on this aggressive total package. But this beast is more than just a raw power machine. You can easily tame it with features like power steering and Baer four-wheel disc brakes. The sale comes with build receipts, restoration photos, and owners manual. That way you can take everyone on this one-of-a-kind Fairlanes unique transformation journey. Its an amazing 2 door sedan where no detail was skipped. So if youre looking for the best of everything, call today!
This 1964 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt is a tribute to the rare lightweight examples that Ford sold a mere 100 units. This one not only gets the details right, but the dual-quad 427 V8 means its still king of the strip. So as you look over the painstaking care that has gone into making an exceptionally accurate tribute, remember how much fun you can have in this one without putting down $200-$300k for an original. If youre looking at this, then you already know the legend of the Thunderbolt 100 hand-built Fairlines made to capture the 1964 NHRA Super Stock championship. These cars were built in a very specific way, and so you need to know what to look for in the details. Wimbledon White was only one of two colors these came in, and so its great to have it laid down with care during this cars restoration/transformation. These cars were an exercise in weight savings, so youll also see details like the aluminum front bumper, single windshield wiper attachment, and no wheel covers. And no Thunderbolt is complete without ram air vents in place of high beams, and a huge bulge in the hood that allows for the heat to dissipate. And speaking of the hood, its made of lightweight fiberglass, and it purposely has the fit to remind us that they made these pieces to be performance parts not showroom stars (Ford even wrote something similar inside the Thunderbolts tag.) Just like the exterior, the interior is all about authenticity for racing. So non-essential items like the radio and heater are deleted. But you still feel a sense of value because theres a freshness inside that instantly conveys the time and money spent on this car. They even correctly sourced simple bucket seats borrowed from Fords industrial vehicles at the time. And because this is quite accurate (right down to the rubber matting,) this is also a drivers machine. The gearstick will give you a tingle of performance every time your right hand touches it. And the thin factory steering wheel not only has the ideal classic grip, but also it gives you a clear view to the auxiliary readouts and the large tach mounted on top of the dash. Under the hood is what really makes this so special. The Thunderbolts were all about stuffing the full-size motor into a lighter and smaller car. So you get an era-correct 427 cubic-inch V8. These gave a set of eyes in the name of airflow, and that was important, because it feeds a two Holley four-barrel carburetors. Plus, this race-ready motor has a solid lifter cam, ARP Cobra Jet rods, double roller set, and a compression ratio of 11:1. And while this is a beastly motor, its extra tidy presentation should make it no surprise that it fires up with ease. The full header package adds power while creating a ferocious growl. But dont just listen to it roar; follow the path in the undercarriage photos. There youll see more evidence of how fresh and detailed this build is. The reinforced rear end is even there to remind you this classic is a true dragstrip monster. So with a strong four-speed manual (including new clutch) and Mickey Thompson slicks already on the rear, you know this is ready for both show and go. Complete with build receipts, this is the accurate tribute that offers all the fun of the original at a fraction of the price. Dont miss this special build, call today!
