The Tampa Showroom is honored to be listing this 1963 Ford Thunderbird for sale. A bullet bird, how cool is this ride! This Thunderbird has a 390ci V-8 with an automatic transmission. The T-bird has a newer top and the interior has been lifted from the old to the new with carpet an, seats, and door panels. The newer paint looks very good and this bullet is ready for the road. During the build, new brakes, gas tank & lines, transmission serviced, a new Holly carburetor, driveshaft balanced, trunk mat kit, master cylinders, power booster, and multiple trim pieces. Heads have been hardened to accept regular gasoline. This bird comes with a cover, extra rear bumpers, original heads, carburetor, and fuel pump. All this work was completed 2012 and with only 535 miles put on the odometer since the build. The third generation of the Ford Thunderbird is a personal luxury car produced by Ford for the 1961 to 1963 model years. It featured new and much sleeker styling than the second generation models. Sales were strong, if not quite up to record-breaking 1960, at 73,051 including 10,516 convertibles. A new, larger 390 cu in 6.4 L FE-series V8 was the only engine available in 1961. The Thunderbird was 1961s Indianapolis 500 pace car, and featured prominently in US President John F. Kennedys inaugural parade, probably aided by the appointment of Ford executive Robert McNamara as Secretary of Defense. It shared some styling cues with the much smaller European Ford Corsair. Changes for 1963 were relatively mild. Some additions to the option list included vacuum assisted door locks and an AM/FM radio; an AM radio and a remote drivers side mirror became standard. Options include: Power Brakes, AM radio, Hub Caps, Power steering, power top, vinyl interior, tilt wheel, radial tires, power windows, . This Thunderbird convertible has the full Sport Roadster package. The car is in really excellent condition too. Claimed to have 27,545 actual miles. EXTERIOR: What a sleak design to begin with and this one has the roadster option too make it even sleaker. The package includes a lightweight fiberglass tonneau cover that easily transforms it from a 4 passenger convertible to a 2 person speedster, Kelsey Hayes wire wheels with spinners and elimination of fender skirts. The body fits exceptionally well. The gaps around doors, trunk, fenders are right on the money. Even the windows fit the top really well. Paint is polished to a smooth gloss. Upfront the chrome is all beautiful, bright and shiny. The moldings running front to back are straight and polished. Chrome in back is all excellent condition, tail lights look new. Convertible top is black, no tears or wrinkles. INTERIOR: Very nice inside. The seat cushions are firm so the upholstery fits tight. It has the Thunderbird chrome logos in the seats and the chrome piping. The door panels look virtually new, steering wheel, instrument area is also mint. Has rare Am-FM radio. Carpets are mint, has a new set of reproduction Thunderbird floor mats. Also has seatbelts. Unique features are the swing away steering wheel, a sporty console and bucket seats. The tonneau cover does not interfere with the convertible. The power windows are nice too, otherwise you would need to reach under the tonneau to roll rear windows down. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Show quality. The engine bay and underside of hood is painted. Motor is clean, valve covers, and air cleaner ate painted. It is detailed out with propper decals, Ford hose and clamps etc. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Show quality. The compartment and bottom of trunk lid is painted. The motors, cables, rubber is all detailed. Has full liner kit. UNDERSIDE: Bottom of motor and the trans look clean. Shocks, ball joints, exhaust look new. Putting the top down always attracts attention. The way the lids open and top folds away is impressive on a car of this age. It was a car ahead of its time and really nothing else compares to it. Today owning one is special, especially in this condition! Wow, this is one of the slickest, sharpest cars Ive seen. The body lines make it look like its moving while its sitting still. The extra bright red paint and those wide whitewall tires with wire wheels is so sexy. I am around gorgeous cars everyday and this one stands out. EXTERIOR: Gorgeous. The roadster package includes the 2 seater tonneau cover and Kelsey Hayes wire wheels. The tonneau easily lifts off with 1 person, it weighs hardly anything. It does not interfere with the top at all. The body is clean and straight. The paint is highly polished right to the bottom. Jambs are slick. New sill plates and weatherstrips. All of the trim and chrome sparkles- bumpers, grill, stainless trim etc. The Kelsey Hayes wire wheels sparkle and they have red Thunderbird spinners. New set of wide whitewall radial tires. Convertible top is a new crisp white. The power retractable was just serviced. With a flip of one switch the lid opens, top folds inside and lid closes. Born a red car, code J. INTERIOR: The inside is also very sharp looking. It is a great design with sporty center console, unique swing away wheel and plenty of chrome. The upholstery has a cool design with actual chrome logos and silver piping. New cushions and upholstery. Door panels and dash pad were replaced. Bright red carpets. The aluminum and chrome sparkle inside too. Has red seat belts and reproduction floormats. Owners manual is in the glovebox. Really, inside this car is exceptionally nice throughout- the mirror, gauges, steering wheel etc. The lights in the doors work, dash pad was installed properly and fits right, seats are plump and fit tight as a drum. MOTOR COMPARTMENT: Very nice first impression. Motor has a clean coat of black paint, valve govers and air cleaner are the correct light gold. Inner fenders are gloss red. Radiator support is paint, has caution sticker and rubber flap. Bottom side of the hood is painted satin black and has the insulations. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Very nice and orderly. The liner kit is in good shape. UNDERSIDE: The floors were restored, all metal. Then painted black. Recent shocks, tailpipes with resonators and fuel tank. Bottom of motor and trans are clean. Very unique car. There was nothing else designed like this car or featured retractable top or a swing away steering wheel. With the optional roadster package it was even more outstanding then and more so today. This car really presents itself like beauty queen. 1963 Ford Thunderbird Convertible The Thunderbird and the Corvette have a long and sorted history, with both initially competing for the same customer space. Eventually the Corvette went to racing, and the Thunderbird became the boulevard king. The ultimate getaway car from the kids with a two-seat configuration (rear seat is there but covered by cowlings) with a convertible cruiser, it became the it car for early 1960s suburbia. With design queues courtesy of the jet age, its bullet like front appearance, and jet engine taillights was keying into the upwardly mobile middle class, and growing suburbia. Offered for sale is a 1963 Ford Thunderbird Convertible in Chestnut Brown exterior and black vinyl interior. 1963 was the last production year of the third generation of T-birds. Of the total production of 214,375 units produced, on 5,913 were convertibles. Exterior A Chestnut Brown bullet shaped model with a white convertible, presents in good overall condition. The mechanicals for this pop top are a marvel of engineering, as the whole long expansive trunk section, and the top become involved on the up and down operation and storage. Paint matching Sport Roadster style tonneaus are attached to the back each bucket, and swoop from the headrest to the rear deck, creating an aerodynamic bat mobile look. Chrome and bright work are correct, and in fine shape. Wide white sidewall tires wrap original chrome spoke wheels, which have knockoff hubs. 3 chromed faux jet intake appliqus adorn each exterior door panel and add to the jet look. Interior Black vinyl original to the car is seen, and is in full glory, with near nice bucket seats in front, and a bench in the back. (Although covered by the buckets rear headrests and Sport Roadster Tonneau) A sleek console makes its way to the dash, and houses the vinyl covered console glove box, and ashtray. Horizontal ribbed aluminum snakes its way up the dash and proceeds to spread out from side to side over the dash front, and houses the heater and air flow controls, light switches, logos and a very cool swing away steering wheel. Above this are 2 black vinyl winglike structures (can you say bird?) that form the padded dash top. A speaker, radio, and a 3-gauge cluster is within these swoops, and all appear in excellent condition. Power windows, power steering, power drivers seat, and power brakes are installed options. Drivetrain The car presented has gone through a thorough mechanical restoration which includes a rebuilt transmission with new front and rear seals attached to the original 390ci engine. A complete motor tune up including new plugs, points, condenser and car rebuild was performed. New brakes on all four corners, including front discs with power booster, replaced the worn discs and drums. The main axle bearings and rear wheel bearings were refreshed with new suspension bearings and complete front end alignment. The engine head gaskets were replaced with new as well as all hoses and belts. New shocks and HD helper springs completed the suspension restoration. A very, cool retro midcentury, last year of a truly iconic convertible, the 1963 offers an opportunity to own an immediately recognized classic for a below market price. So why not relive that fantasy of leading the jet set lifestyle, driving a jet age style automobile, flying around town, turning heads while doing so.

1963 Ford Thunderbird If you are in the market for a classic car you can just hop in and drive, this car is a great option. This is a unique car that needs nothing but a tank of gas to get you on down the road. You can confidently drive this car anywhere. This fully restored 1963 Thunderbird or "Bullet Bird" has a unique look and style that is all its own. Small fins, tail lights reminiscent of jet engines, shiny chrome, and a two-tone exterior and an accent interior make this one classy classic. This car spent a large part of its life in Chicago where it was stored in a climate controlled area, out of the weather. About halfway through 2010, the car made its way to Texas where it underwent a total restoration. In 2011, the car was purchased by its current owner who had the car shipped to California where the car was the toast of the town garnering approving looks and upraised thumbs whenever it was on the road. Now the car and its owner live in Texas. Because the owner will be traveling extensively, it has been decided that the car needs to be passed along for someone else to enjoy. During the resto process, the car s body was media blasted to ensure a perfect finish for the rust-free body to receive the Sea Spray Green and Navaho White paint which you will recognize from the 1957 Birds. The base coat/clear coat paint was then color sanded and buffed to a great shine that looks great in the sun and when the vehicle is on the road. The stainless steel trim pieces were all straight and in good condition. With a bit of professional polishing, the trim pieces were brought back to show-room quality. The car has a great stance and rides on a set of the original-style wheels encased in Hankook tires with the rear wheels covered by body color-matched fender skirts. The odometer is currently showing 31,933 miles and has no leaks or serious issues. The 390 V8 engine moves the car down the road with ease. During the restoration, the motor was removed and the engine compartment was repainted. While the motor was out, it was completely rebuilt with everything on it nicely finished and coated in the period correct black and gold factory colors. The water pump, alternator, starter, radiator, power steering system, cruise-o-matic transmission, and other engine parts were completely gone through and rebuilt as necessary. The car also has dual exhausts and front disc brakes. The interior has been updated to compliment the exterior. The interior seating, including the matching seatbelts, are a complimentary aqua blue/green. The bucket seats sit in the right place and are separated by the original style center console which is leather covered and color-matched to the front and rear seats. The swing-away steering wheel was restored and leather wrapped to match the vehicle s interior. And, of course, the swing-away steering wheel works just as it should. The headliner, the color-matched carpet, and the rubber floor mats look like new. Everything in the interior looks original, including the AM/FM radio with iPod/MP3 connector. The car has an operational rotary AC compressor which blows cold and utilizes 134 Freon. The rubber kit helps the doors close solidly and snugly while keeping wind noise to a minimum when the car is at speed on the road. All gauges, knobs, and switches are in place and are operational. The trunk was gone through and a new liner kit added. The truck is home to a jack and an unused spare wheel also equipped with a Hankook tire. The trunk, complete with the spare, looks like new and is just as nice as the rest of the car. This is a fabulous car that gets tons of attention! This Bullet Bird has a very unique body style that is classy and retro at the same time. This is an awesome car worth every bit of $24,500.00! NOW REDUCED DOWN TO $20,500.00!
