Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa Is proud to offer this excellent 1963 Buick Riviera. This car still has the numbers matching engine and transmission with only 78k miles! The Buick Riviera is a personal luxury car produced by Buick from 1963 to 1999. GMs first entry into that prestige niche, the Riviera was highly praised by automotive journalists upon its high-profile debut. While early models stayed close to the original form, eight subsequent generations varied substantially over the Rivieras thirty-year lifespan. In all, 1,127,261 were produced. This Buick was repainted about 2 years ago but kept the factory color. The Burgundy paint, chrome accent pieces, and glass is all still in great condition and looks as it has been redone. The style of this era s body style is top notch and has tons of potential to become whatever you can dream up or even keep it as it sits and enjoy the history. When you hop into this Buick you instantly notice the like new brown leather interior. The styling of the dash and shifter area brings out the luxury feel while cruising down the street in this sharp car. It shared the standard Buick V8 engines, with a displacement of either 401 cu in (6.57 L) or 425 cu in (6.96 l), and the unique continuously variable design twin turbine automatic transmission. Power brakes were standard, using Buicks massive Al-Fin (aluminum finned) drums of 12 in (300 mm) diameter. Power steering was standard equipment, with an overall steering ratio of 20.5:1, giving 3.5 turns lock-to-lock. The production Riviera was introduced on October 4, 1962, as a 1963 model, Its distinctive bodyshell was unique to the marque, unusual for a GM product. It rode a cruciform frame similar to the standard Buick frame, but shorter and narrower, with a 2.0 in narrower track. Its wheelbase of 117 in and overall length of 208 in were 6.0 inches and 7.7 in shorter, respectively, than a Buick LeSabre, but slightly longer than a contemporary Thunderbird. At 3,998 lb, it was about 390 pounds lighter than either. This First Generation Riviera has been well maintained and is ready to be taken out and shown off to the world. This very special 1963 Buick Riviera was owned by two different Buick dealers before my becoming its owner. It has very low mileage at 44913 original miles. The body has a few tinny dings too small to see in pics and some small surface rot marks on the hood. The car is solid as a rock with no real rot anywhere. All the shocks are new. The exhaust system has been updated to include a new muffler. The transmission has all new seals. The engine compartment is absolutely pristine as is the underside. The very clean 445 Wildcat engine has a fresh tuneup, and oil change. All it's belts are new and the carburetor has been upgraded to one with an electric chock. The paint is not original and is of poor quality. The interior has a few minor flaws and one small wear hole in the carpet near the gas pedal. The seats are dark blue leather and all but the drivers seat show no wear at all. The original AM radio works well as does the electric retractable antenna. Blinkers, and headlights all work. Original jack and tire iron included. Electric trunk release also works. The mag wheels have some small rust spots on some and the car also comes with the original wheels and hubcaps. Invest in fresh paint and this car is ready to show.
