For those of you looking for an early Thunderbird but need space for your family, this pretty 1962 Thunderbird hardtop is definitely a wise choice. A recently serviced and painted car that coddles like a Lincoln but packs serious blasting powder under the hood in the form of a muscular 390, its an affordable cruiser that is part of a market thats suddenly heating up. Dont worry, the wheels are the only major modification, making this a Bird thats welcome just about anywhere. Bullet Birds like this have long lived in the shadows of their 2-seat siblings, but that seems to be changing and cars like this bright blue Bird are the reason why. The styling is a big upgrade over the first square Birds following the conversion to four-seater, offering a sleek profile and lovely 1960s detailing thats restrained and tasteful. The particular blue wasnt on the Ford color charts, but it looks great, with a white top that perfectly complements the sophisticated look. The paint looks good and shiny over some pretty straight bodywork, particularly those jet-inspired quarter panels that look like theyre about a quarter-mile long. The recently restored chrome bumpers have a brilliant shine and Ford designers were hitting on all eight cylinders when they added the lovely strip of trim that stretches from nose to tail and neatly integrates the door handles in its design. The lack of a padded roof is a rare choice on a Thunderbird, but the white hardtop gives this car an added dose of sophistication that fits it quite nicely. Personal luxury was the Thunderbirds primary mission, and the handsome black interior doesnt disappoint in that regard. Buckets seats and a console are the sporty part, but with correct seat covers and firm foam underneath, they coddle rather than grab. Matching black carpets look great and the wood accents warm things up and make it feel luxurious. Check out Fords trademark swing-away steering column, which tilts out of the way by lightly tugging on the shifter lever, and the leather wrap that makes it easy to grip. The three individual pods ahead of the driver hold the primary gauges, with things like the radio (a new AM/FM/cassette unit) in the center stack, along with a lockable compartment in the center armrest. The trunk is truly massive, and carries a correct reproduction mat as well as a full-sized spare tire assembly. Its likely that the 390 cubic inch V8 under the hood is the original engine, but since Ford wasnt doing matching numbers in the traditional sense in 1962, so we cant prove it. It does look quite correct with an oversized air cleaner up top and Ford Blue paint on the block itself. It has been recently serviced with a lot of new equipment, including a full tune up, rebuilt carburetor, fuel pump, starter, alternator, timing chain and gear, oil pump, radiator, water pump, and belts and hoses, all within the last 2000 miles. Power steering and brakes are welcome additions to a heavy cruiser like this, and the dual exhaust system burbles like it has something to hide. The brakes are surprisingly effective, the automatic transmission shifts almost imperceptibly, and the rebuilt front suspension has the ability to float over bumps like a hovercraft. Steel wheels with simple hubcaps are a clean look and they wear 205/75/14 whitewall radials for a period look. This is just a great cruiser whose color combination does a good job of camouflaging the hardware underneath. Bullet Birds are definitely heating up, making this an excellent buy for today and for the future. Call today.
Thunderbird was Fords contender in the growing personal luxury car segment in the 60s. For this 62 model, Bill Boyer created a new and much sleeker body style than its predecessors, and also than the competition. Nicely restored by Proffitts Custom and Restoration shop, this beautiful car can become your personal luxury car for today. Presented in Corinthian White which was professionally applied in 15 coats after careful preparation and it looks gorgeous. They even left a little touch up paint in the trunk for any oopses that might occur. The chrome has all been redone with that toothy grill up front leading the way flanked by quad headlights. The bumper becomes an integral part of the front fender down low and an arcing piece of chrome tops the front fender, door, and rear fender, ending just before the chrome trim of those big round taillights and big back bumper. There is a Thunderbird on the hood just in front of the scoop, and one on the trunk too, with another one on the sail panel surrounded by polished stainless and Thunderbird in script on the front fenders. To complete the look, steel wheels with polished hub caps and trim rings tie it all together. Open the door and you will find a black and gray interior that is simple and elegant. The door panel has a black top with a ribbed aluminum center that will carry around the rest of the interior. The seats complement the look with silver pleated seating surfaces surrounded by black vinyl. The steering wheel is unique in that it swings significantly to the right so the driver can easily get in and comfortable. Have a seat, swing that Thunderbird steering wheel with the chrome horn ring back over and it will be framing a black upper dash with three large, chrome ringed gauges and polished control knobs. Below that the ribbed aluminum panel edged in chrome continues its sweep around the interior in what could be described as a giant T for Thunderbird shape. The stock looking radio is actually a new one with iPod compatibility for your listening pleasure. A trio of Equus white faced gauges are mounted just below it to keep accurate track of engine oil pressure, water temp and voltage and a new headliner and carpeting tie it all together. Pop the hood and you will find a numbers-matching 390 cubic inch engine that has been completely rebuilt and updated with a couple niceties like stainless steel valves and seats so that you can run ethanol gas. A Holley air filter tops a Holley 4-barrel carburetor which feeds the stock intake and heads. Finned aluminum Edelbrock valve covers look great and a Flamethrower ignition coil assures good spark through the new cap, rotor and wires to the plugs. The engine sounds nice too thanks to a dual exhaust system with thrust style mufflers at the rear. Power is sent back to a 3-speed automatic transmission that also received a complete rebuild that included a new rear servo. The restoration included proper chassis maintenance too with steering and suspension components as well as bushings replaced. Power steering and power front disc brakes assure good control and stopping power in town or on the highway. Nicely restored with restoration photos, service manuals and build receipts. Come on down and check out this beautiful car. You may decide that it is the personal luxury car that you have been looking for.

1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible Why This Car Is Special You dont come across the early 60s Thunderbirds very often, much less one in as nice of a color combination as this example. The Sports Roadster package sets this T-Bird apart as well, and gives this 62 a sporty look. Mechanical The 390 engine is left stock and is very clean. It runs great and has a good sound. These cars are big and heavy, but the 390 has plenty of torque to get it rolling and carry it down the highway. Power steering, power brakes and a great suspension make you feel as if youre riding on a cloud. Power top, power windows, power locks, power top and power seat provide the luxury you would expect in a Thunderbird. Interior Bucket seats, wrap around center console and a speedster tonneau. What more could you want for a futuristic feeling cockpit? The interior is done in Turquoise to match the exterior and is set off nicely by the white convertible top. The center console provides storage, an armrest and looks fantastic. Bucket seats up front and a bench in the back keep you and your passengers comfortable. Put on the speedster tonneau if you want a 2-seater look. It removes easily if you prefer a stock 4-seater feel. The interiors of these 60s T-Birds are nicely appointed and feel classy and stylish. Exterior This is a Florida car and certainly looks the part. Turquoise paint is reminiscent of the waters on the Emerald Coast and the white top matches the white sandy beaches we all love to enjoy. Wire wheels with wide white wall tires carry that classy vibe to the exterior of this third generation Thunderbird. These were known for there bullet-like appearance and great lines. The Sports Roadster package included the speedster tonneau and 48 spoke wire wheels. It is a rare feature as most people thought the fiberglass tonneau would be too complicated to take off and on. Conclusion Dont miss out on this Thunderbird with the Sports Roadster package, great colors and a smooth ride. So, give us a call at 941-254-6608. We also finance! This Thunderbird is best described as a very nice survivor. The car is in good condition overall - solid body, complete interior, trim and lights all present, but shows age. The exterior is finished in the factory color of Silver Mink Metallic although the car had one repaint quite some time ago. Overspray can be seen in some areas of the car. What looks to be the original chrome shows some cracking/discoloration in a few areas, but is straight other than a small ding on both the front and rear bumpers. All trim, lights and lenses are present and all are in very good condition. The interior is where this car shows its age, although it is finished in the factory original colors of Silver/Blue Vinyl the seats show quite a bit of wear, along with the carpet. The headliner is in good condition and is taught, gauges are clear and work, and the optional swing-away steering column mechanism works just fine. The engine is a 390ci V8 mated to a 3-speed cruise-o-matic transmission. At our REDUCED asking price of $12,900 this is a great opportunity to get into a classic T-Bird! 1962 Ford Thunderbird Coupe The Jet age is in full swing, the country is riding high on Beatle mania, towering beehive hair doos, fur boots, and getting to the moon before the end of the decade. To mirror these times the Ford Motor Company put elements of design into the Thunderbird for 1962. A jet age front, and thruster rear taillight configuration, all in sophisticated black exterior, this hardtop is perfect for a boulevard cruise that will certainly turn heads. This 1 of 31 (YES I SAID 31) M Code factory 3x2s a rare example of an option with only 31 original orders. This one remains true to form, well maintained and mostly original. exceptions a repaint, and chroming. Exterior This R title (Due to flooding and was changed to the R title prior to 1992) was brought back to life with all necessary repairs, and problems addressed. That said the original coded white top has been painted black to match the remainder of the car. All steel looks straight and dent free. Paint shows some chipping around roof area where it meets the body, and trunk and hood have a few nicks. Chrome bumpers, and bright work are all in good condition, with only rear quarter panel faux vents showing slight wear on the chrome. Kelsey Hayes knockoff wire wheels are on all 4 corners. Consigner states that the car will come with matching fender skirts. Interior Chestnut interior, original to the car is seen, and is in full glory, with near perfect bucket seats in front, and a bench in the back. A sleek console makes its way to the dash, and houses the vinyl covered console glove box, and ashtray. Horizontal ribbed aluminum snakes its way up the dash and proceeds to spread out from side to side over the dash front, and houses the heater and air flow controls, light switches, logos and a very cool swing away steering wheel. Above this are 2 Chestnut vinyl wing like structures (can you say bird?) that form the padded dash top. A speaker, radio, and a 3-gauge cluster is within these swoops, and all appear in excellent condition. Power windows, power steering, power drivers seat, and power brakes are installed options. Drivetrain The M code engine, original to the car, which is deemed a 390ci 340hp Tri power V8 is seen with a pop of the hood. An automatic transmission is bolted to the back. The correct 406 factory aluminum heads, aluminum intake, special camshaft, oil pump and distributor specially ordered on M code cars. Also noted are dual exhausts, original air cleaner, chromed valve covers, chrome master cylinder cover, chrome power steering cap, and a chromed tip dipstick are highlighting the engine. Newly upgraded are a re-cored radiator, water pump, fuel pump, rebuilt carbs including throttle shaft bushings, fuel tank and sending unit. This car has also been converted to electronic ignition. A consigner stated, Semi Survivor, presents nicely, with a few dings in the paint, and a few chromed parts showing patina, also an excellent interior, is here to be driven away and enjoyed. A rare example for the taking! Whats the word? Thunderbird...of course!
1962 Ford Thunderbird Coupe The jet age is in full swing, the country is riding high on Beatle mania, towering beehive hair doos, fur boots, and getting to the moon before the end of the decade. To mirror these times Ford Motor Company put elements of design into the Thunderbird for 1962. For consignment, a 3 owner Bullet Bird born at the Wixom Assembly Plant, on March 8, 1962. With a jet age front, and thruster rear taillight configuration, all in original condition, this hardtop is perfect for a boulevard cruise that will certainly turn heads. Exterior A Thunderbird Landau covered with original Corinthian White, straight panels, nice chrome, good brite work, and correct badging awaits its key being turned so it can stretch its legs on some open highway. An excellent condition Landau padded top covers the entire roof and has a pair of landau bars with a winged bird logo in the center, to add a touch of class. Original turbine style hubcaps cover wide white sidewall tires, and fender skirts, looking cool, hide some of the rear tires. Interior A retro style wrap around dash with medium silver blue metallic padded vinyl, is mixed with a wide curving horizontal ribbed aluminum panel, that contains all the instruments and essential knobs and controls. This curving also continues downward to the center console, where the climate controls are located. This car is equipped with air conditioning; however, it is not functioning at this time. The aluminum continues back and forms an ashtray, and then turns to the silver blue metallic vinyl, and created a nice storage area and armrest. Medium silver blue metallic bucket seats flank the console and are in very good condition. A flip of the setbacks forward, one finds a wonderful padded bench stretching from side to side. Headliner is also good condition. Drivetrain Under the hood the original 390ci V8 showing a nice patina, and THUNDERBIRD emblazoned silver valve covers. On top is a 4 Venturi carburetor (4V) that feeds the engine to produce 300hp. Behind is a 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission, which consigner states has been rebuilt due to it leaking, which has now been remedied. A 3.00:1 rear axle is installed from the factory. Undercarriage Slight surface rust can be seen on some parts underneath, as well as under the passenger door, however it is minor. Unibody seam looks very healthy, as do floorpans. Consigner states the shock absorbers have been changed. A 3 owner ORIGINAL car shows very nicely, and obviously has been garaged, and covered (which is included with this car...a cover). Consigner stated 48,136 original miles, there is obviously a lot of life left. Rust smoothly, and shifts effortlessly, and if you like the original patina look, then this will be your nirvana.
