This 1962 Chevy Nova II is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The Chevy II was GM s introduction to the compact car market. It was a smaller car with good looks and an economical 6-cylinder engine. This Chevy II has done away with the inline 6 and turned this Nova into a reputable street machine. Under the hood is a fresh 350 small block that puts a little more power under the hood than that old straight 6. Topped off with a set of high flowing aluminum heads and a Holley 600cfm carb feeding the set up this small block is sure to impress. Matched up to a power glide transmission and a seat of 3:08 s in the rear this Chevy II runs out great with both low-end grunt and top end pull. The aftermarket disc brakes upfront really give the car a great feel when slowing down, With the complete brake system overhauled using new parts you can hit the pedal with confidence. The dark walnut paint looks great on the car while the tan insert in the rear panel helps to break it up. The Gold Hurst wheels really help to tie it all together. With the front and rear bumpers being bought new and installed they really give the car that 60 s character. The interior has been redone incorporating a set of modern buckets with the B&M shifter looking right at home sitting in between. If you have been looking for a Chevy II that not only looks good but can be driven with confidence this 62 is a great candidate. Options on this 1962 Chevy II include, Cloth Interior, Seat Belts. Power Steering, and Radial Tires Wrapped Around Custom Hurst Wheels. For sale is this beautiful 1962 Chevrolet Nova 400 Convertible is in our Louisville showroom. The 1962 Chevy II (Nova) rode a 110-inch wheelbase, compared to 109.5 for the Ford Falcon, at which Chevys new compact was aimed. The Chevy II one of the fastest new-car development programs in GM history just 18 months after the designers got the green light, the first production Chevy II rolled off the Willow Run, Michigan, assembly line in August 1961, in time for its September 29 introduction. Unlike the Corvair, the 1962 Chevy II was deliberately never intended to be revolutionary in concept or execution; its mission was to give Chevrolet buyers a simple, back-to-the-basics compact car and it did. This Nova 400 convertible is very clean, but still very simple. A quick peek of the underside will show how clean the car. Under the hood, is the ever reliable inline 6-cylinder engine. The engine is backed by a 2-speed automatic power glide transmission. The interior is basically stock, but some of the vinyl ha been replaced with cloth inserts. The convertible is manual, but so easy to put up and down, that it only takes one person to do it. Options on this 1962 Chevrolet Nova 400 Convertible for sale include; AM/FM Radio, Manual Convertible Soft Top, Seat Belts, Cloth Interior and White Wall Radial Tires. 1962 Chevrolet Nova 400 Convertible for sale is in our Louisville Showroom and can be seen in greater detail, including an HD video at www.GatewayClassicCars.com. Gateway Classic Cars is pleased to present a selection of gas dragsters Gassers for sale in our Indianapolis showroom. This one is a 1962 Chevrolet Nova based C/Gas dragster, and is powered by a 383 stroker driving through a manual valve body TH400 transmission to a 12 bolt positraction rear with 4.11:1 gears. The steel body is painted in red PPG paint and the interior is complete with rollcage, racing seats, and a racing harness. Here is some history for those who would like background on this exciting style of dragster. The term Gasser refers to a style of drag race car that was prolific in the late 1950s through the 1960s that ran on gasoline as fuel, as opposed to race fuel. These cars typically competed in heads up drag races that were classed by engine size and car weight. In the faster classes the cars used a straight axle front suspension that produced the intimidating stance that gassers are known for. Easily recognized by common features like the higher front end stance that was developed as a means of weight transfer to the rear wheels for traction, this style became popular later as builders attempted to achieve a traditional or nostalgic race look. These cars became fan favorites as the well-known racers began to run grudge matches for higher purses. In no time these matches were the top billing at many shows due to the crowd entertainment factor. Gassers were the top drag racing classes in the period that is now referred to as the gasser war years, which ranged from 1955 through 1968.In addition to the straight axle, most gassers also sported Halibrand wheels, no front bumper, and had a front mounted Moon tank. The gasser form was dictated by function and most builders looked to eliminate as much weight as possible. Having their exhaust pipes exit through the front fender to shorten the length of exhaust tubing is another common characteristic of gassers. Builders used 1930s through 1950s production coupes or sedans to create these highly modified racing vehicles. Late model cars were not allowed in the Gas classes until 1967, and the gas classes were totally eliminated by NHRA in 1972. They run today all over the United States and down under in Australia and New Zealand in vintage and nostalgia drags.
