In 1956 only 3,467 Corvettes were produced, making it the third lowest production total in the history of the famed sports car. This striking convertible looks fantastic being one of only 532 1956 Corvettes built in elegant Polo White and is complimented by the sharp red interior in like-new condition. Power is compliments of the 265 cubic-inch V8 topped with dual four-barrel carburetors producing a stout 225 horsepower and transferred to the pavement via the 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. A unique option on this Corvette is the electronically controlled convertible top. Unlike the 1953-1955 Corvette roadsters, which had an optional top that could be attached to the car, this convertible top was an integral part of the design, allowing the 1956 Corvette to be identified as a true convertible. An extensive frame-off restoration was done at some point and completed to the highest standards of Corvette restoration, using mostly original and new-old-stock parts. The paint on this car is in great condition as well as all the chrome, stainless moldings and glass. The chassis, suspension, braking, and drivetrain systems have all passed an intensive and thorough inspection by one of our trained restoration specialists, so you can have peace of mind driving and enjoying this amazing car. Included with the purchase of this Hendrick Performance vehicle, is the rare opportunity for you and up to three of your friends to tour and take delivery inside the breath-taking Hendrick Heritage Center. Stepping inside this private museum, that very few have had the privilege to experience, will take you back in time to when American muscle cars ruled the street, and show you the story of Rick Hendrick’s heritage and his amazing collection of rare and high-performance cars. This exceptional Corvette is ready to take you on a trip back in time, or to your next weekend getaway! 1956 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Engineering Trim Fitment Body Made By GM Very rare GM engineering body. This body was made directly from the 56 clay mold and used for fitment testing of all the chrome and trim on the fiberglass body. To my knowledge it is the earliest 56 body that is still around today. Was used in the GM Tech center in Flint and was sent out to be destroyed. The front clip was cut off so it could be taken out of the room it was in. It was then acquired by a Dr. and collector in Plainwell MI. Then acquired around 2015. From the little that was left of it, the body appeared to originally rest on a exact recreation of the steel frame but made from wood. A new wood rolling cart was made so it can easily be transported and moved around. This cart has supports to hold the front clip where it would have originally been but not glued back on. The hood, doors and deck lid are fixed and are not made to open. The original paint color looks to have been black and then painted blue at some point. The blue paint is very old with scratches and chips. Do not have any original GM paperwork or data tags for it. Typically the Engineering data tags were nailed to the carts or frames these fixtures were on. Please Note The Following Vehicle Location is at our clients home and Not In Cadillac, Michigan. To Potential Buyers, I am selling my late husband’s dream car. It’s a white 1956 Chevrolet Corvette in perfect condition. He bought it in November of 2015 and drove it less than 300 miles before his passing in August of 2016. He had wanted a Corvette like this since he was a teenager and knowing he had little time left on this earth I agreed he should buy one. Now that he is gone, I wish to give it a good home because it is too much of a muscle car for me. Below is a description of the vehicle: 1. Year, Make and Model - 1956 Chevrolet Corvette 2. Exterior color – Polo White, 3.Interior color – Red 4.Vin Number – E56S003072 5.Original Miles Driven – 83,203. 6. It has both original Hard and Soft tops, both are white exterior, the Hard top has a Red interior to match the seats 7.Engine – 265 CI V-8 with dual Quad carburetors – all original Transmission – Manual 3 speed 8. Body and Paint – the body has no imperfections or Bondo, it has been repainted once 9. Interior upholstery – It has been re-upholstered to original specs but I don’t know when and is in perfect condition 10.Wheels – The wheels and tires are brand new and purchased in November 2015 when Kevin bought the car because he wanted Mags. I still have the original wheels and hub caps which are red and silver (See Photo) and will be included with the purchase of the Corvette. History of the vehicle: I believe that my husband was the fourth owner. The original owner (Helen Herman) purchased the car in 1956 and drove it until 1974. That year it was put into storage until her death in 2000. It was sold to a company called Byers Precision Mfg. Co. Inc. in 2000 and gifted to a longtime friend of the company’s (Linda Westwood) in 2005. My husband purchased it from an auto sales company in San Carlos California called San Francisco Sports Cars who were the agents for Linda Westwood. I have and will give to the buyer of Kevin’s car all maintenance records dating back to 1957 which I believe are complete since the original purchase of the vehicle. This Corvette is presently stored at my home in Georgetown, California. How to make an offer, request more information or purchase this Corvette: My E-mail address is email@example.com. The sale price in this ad is like E-bay, meaning the sales price of $95,900 is ‘buy it now’ but I will entertain other offers. I do have a minimum price I will sell it for and anything below that will be counter offered if you give me your E-mail address in your offer. All I ask is that you don’t make a ridiculously low offer. Thank you for reading my ad. Sincerely, Lynette
