So it turns out that trucks make pretty cool rods, as this 1955 Chevy 3100 so ably demonstrates. All the usual tricks work here, and what you get when youre done is a stylish, fun, and surprisingly practical hauler that will attract attention wherever it goes. First of all, the two-tone copper over white paint is an eyeball magnet, offering a traditional look with a few tweaks to give it a custom look. Its still got plenty of authenticity, dont worry about losing the trucks personality, but the shaved hood ornament and custom pinstriping on the already clean lines of the all-new 3100 really work well. The bodywork, which was already dramatic right out of the box, looks great wearing that soft white paint, which is a little creamy, not a hard, bright white, just as it might have been back in the day. A lot of the original trim is intact, and the grille, bumpers, and hooded headlights are in pretty good shape, highlighting whats arguably the first high-fashion pickup truck; you can see the ties to the passenger car line everywhere you look and thats purely intentional. The bed is still functional, too, with wood planks that are in just the right condition that you wont worry about throwing some tools back there and getting a job done somewhere. After all, isnt that why you own a pickup truck? The interior has been given a full makeover as well, and the working-class accommodations have been replaced by first-class white and copper vinyl. The late-model bench seat looks like a natural fit in the 3100s cab and has been covered with a period-looking pleated upholstery with copper piping, so it all works well together. A custom center console offers a pair of cup holders and holds the Lokar shifter for the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission underneath. Black carpets are the right choice in a truck and keep it from being too soft, and the matching door panels have been as nicely finished as the seat. The stock gauges are still monitoring the engine, along with a white-faced temperature gauge built into the center stack. There is no radio, but its ready for the entertainment system of your choice, and sometimes starting from scratch is easier than fixing someone elses mess. Finishing it off is a late-model tilt steering column with a rather weathered steering wheel that doesnt quite look right, so thats another place where you could add some value and style without spending much cash. Just as in 1955, theres a small block Chevy 350 V8 under the hood delivering the power. Its functional and pretty stock, save for the Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and intake manifold, so theres smooth power available and it never gets fussy. Some smart upgrades make it reliable and comfortable, including an alternator, power steering, and a modern dual reservoir power brake master cylinder. A big radiator up front keeps things cool. An independent front suspension gives the 3100 improved ride and handling without hurting its ability to work as a truck and it channels power back to a 10-bolt rear end with highway-friendly gears inside. Long-tube headers and a dual exhaust system dumps out just ahead of the rear wheels and sounds fantastic. Color-matched truck Rally wheels are a nice touch and theyre wrapped in big 265/70/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials that really fill the fenders nicely. A very cool truck with a lot of performance and charisma for not a lot of cash. Call now!
GENERAL INFORMATION; NEW CRATE MOTOR. professionally built by Jim Bush of Southerm Calif and completed in early 2016. Jim put 3,000 miles on it himself and I purchased it in the summer of 2016 and shipped up here to the north Georgia mountains. To use as a daily driver. Truck now has 12,600 miles on it since the complete frame off restoration. Never smoked in and always garaged. But driven a few time a week to town and around the mountains. I also have a "build book" supplied by Jim with pictures of every stage of the build. Invoices, tech sheets, all manuals, and parts information for easy parts replacement. Look at the detail of my exterior, interior, dash board, under hood, and under entire truck and compare to those $60k street rods. You will be surprised. I used the autotrader recommended transport company out of California when I bought it there and it was reasonable and worked perfectly without any damage, they also offer inspection services too...IMPORTANT:.Also remember states like Georgia don't charge sales tax when you buy from another individual older cars..Older cars are exempt because of age. But if you buy from a dealer you will pay 6 or 7% sales tax because it is required at the dealer level. This saves you another $2,500 on the transaction, in the state of Georgia anyway. I found this out when I bought from an individual in California and went to register here in Georgia. No sales tax required the tax office told me. Saved $2500. Check the state you live in? If you were to spare no expense building your dream custom vintage truck, it would turn out like this 1955 Chevrolet 3100 restomod pickup. With an amazing paintwork, a luxurious A/C interior, a show-worthy powerful V8 under the hood, and so much more, you get the best of everything. You could get black from the factory in 55, but no one was doing a cool modern satin finish like this. And with less than 55 miles on the build, it looks fantastic. Its the perfect way to announce the performance and custom attitude this truck brings to the streets. The unique way the light dances off of the new-for-1955 style really brings a fresh dimension to the sheet metal. This paint also makes a wonderful contrast to all the high-polish pieces like the bumpers, grille, badges, bezels, handles, and even in-between the slats for the real wood truck bed. Take some time to look at the details, like how the red Chevy logo up front nicely matches the lettering on the side badges. And yes, this has the sought-after big wraparound rear glass. They also took their time to blend in the performance upgrades. After all, Chevys Task Force pickups have a forward leaning cab that just begs for a custom aggressive setup that has been highlight even further in this one. Those of 20-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels have the perfect mixture of matte and shine, just like the rest of this pickup. If you liked the hint of red on the outside, then youre going to love opening the door. The bench seat is covered in supple red leather, and it has individual bolstering for greater comfort. Plus, it has all the right luxury amenities like modern R134a air conditioning, full carpeting, and a retro style AM/FM stereo w/digital tuner. The best treats are reserved for the driver. You get a tall hot rod style gearshift. Plus, theres a grippy black and chrome steering wheel mounted on a tilt column. Beyond that is a full Equus backlit gauge package that keeps you fully informed on whats going on under the hood. Just like the exterior, the engine bay seems to have mastered the right balance of satin and polish. In fact, we wouldnt be surprised if this clean and tidy presentation could win you awards all on its own. But more than a looker, this is also a terrific power package. Its a 355 cubic-inch V8 that has been enhanced and fortified with aluminum heads, Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock hi-rise intake, fabricated aluminum valve covers, upgraded pulleys, and headers that feed a set of growling side pipes. This connects to a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission that feeds a stout Ford 9-inch rear end. As you look at the undercarriage photos, youre going to see all the best suspension upgrades, including a Mustang II front end, tubular control arms, and a four-link rear. Plus, behind each wheel are adjustable coilovers and disc brakes. More than just a performer, this was an all-around thought build. For example, the rear end has highway-friendly gears, and theres a Champion aluminum radiator w/electric fans so you the truck stays cool even if youre in traffic with the A/C pumping. With so few miles and so many cool upgrades this is a true attention-grabber. So if youre quick enough to grab it, your dream machine can be a reality. Call now!
1955 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup Why This Car Is Special Make sure you view the photos of underneath the truck to see the build quality and cleanliness. This is a great build that is a turn key show winner. Mechanical What better to power a Chevrolet pickup than the iconic 350 CID V8? This one is built and dressed to impress. The block is painted black for a clean look that really sets off the chrome and billet pieces. Edelbrock Performer EPS intake is topped off with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor. The exhaust duties are handled by ceramic coated shorty headers running to dual exhaust with a great note. Billet valve covers, air cleaner, radiator overflow and pullies dress up the engine compartment nicely. A Champion aluminum radiator is responsible for cooling the V8 and an HEI distributor handles the ignition. The front end is modern with tubular upper and lower control arms, power rack and pinion steering and disc brakes make this truck drive like a dream. A ford 9 rear end is accented with chrome shocks and red drum brakes. Interior What an interior this truck has. Two tone leather with a woven look really sets this truck apart. The split bench feels more like buckets but gives you the armrest and storage of a fold down center console. The door panels are done custom to match the seats and everything is spotless. AutoMeter gauges fill the chrome bezel and pop against the bright red painted dash. A billet tilt column and modern AM/FM radio provide an updated feel to the interior. Exterior Vision Legend Series chrome wheels really pop against the bright red paint. The bed is finished nicely with beautiful dark with painted strips and a billet fuel door. A smooth tailgate and rear roll pan make the rear end pure eye candy while the stock chrome grill and chrome bumper up front are too cool to change. The grill is accompanied by tri-bar halogen headlights for a modern look and better vision on dark drives. The red brake calipers and drums peeking through the wheels match the rest of the truck and are nicely done. These tri-five pickups are becoming very popular and examples like this make it easy to see why. Gateway Classic Cars of Louisville is proud to present this beautiful one of a kind 1955 Chevrolet Cameo is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The luxury truck market has really caught fire the past decade. Many believe that this is something new but it was something that GM had tried many decades ago. The Cameo was really the first truck that put styling and comfort before the utility of the vehicle. This black Cameo was built with that in mind and the finish product will hopefully not be seen with a load of hay in the back anytime soon. The truck was a ground up build with attention detail being top ion the list. It was a rust-free CA truck to begin with making this the perfect candidate. The first thing you notice about this beauty is the paint. Phantom Black Pearl as it is known as has a ton of flake in it giving the truck that sparkle look when the sun hits it. With all of the stainless steel polished to a bright luster this truck just screams 1950 s. The all new tinted glass is just another one of those attention to details that most would overlook. Under the hood is a Chevy small block with ported and polished heads give this 55 a lot more power than its original 265. The vintage finned valve covers give under the hood a great look while the stainless-steel fasteners keep with the whole attention to detail. The ride quality comes courtesy of a Heidt s mustang II style frontend with power assisted rack and pinion steering. Open the door and the interior of the truck is the perfect complement to the exterior. The leather bench seat has been molded in such a way that it feels like you are sitting in your own bucket. Each side has its own little pocket if you will, keeping you nice and planted. If you have been wanting something different but something mainstream this 55 Cameo is perfect. The 3100 Big Widows are extremely popular but this one has the Cameo factor making it extremely different. Options on this 1955 Chevrolet Cameo include; AC, AM/FM, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Leather Interior, Tilt Wheel, and Aluminum Wheels and Radial Tires. This gorgeous 1955 Chevrolet Cameo is for sale in our Louisville Showroom and can be seen in greater detail including 100+ HD pictures and an HD Video at www.gatewayclassiccars.com. Now for sale in our Houston Showroom is this very clean 1955 Chevrolet 3100. These classic 55 pickups are known as the Second Series and were the start of an all new body style that ran from 1955 to 1959. This one is far from original with a complete restoration and shows very well. This beautiful pickup is powered by a LS2 which was only rebuilt about 3,000 miles ago. This LS2 has a LS-6 Cam Kit and was rebuilt by G&G Machine. There may be some confusion on the engine due to the 5.7L engine cover, but this was simply due to not being able to find a 6.0L engine cover for it. It s estimated to be putting out over 400hp meaning this old truck will run against most cars on the street well. This powerhouse is mated to a T-56 6-speed manual transmission with a competition clutch and runs through the gears with ease. The power is driven to the back tires by the Ford 9 Posi rear end and has 3.70 gears for both leisure and performance. The front end is a Fatman Mustang II with stainless upper and lower control arms. To give the truck more flare an IDIDIT chrome steering column was added as well. To make this truck show quality the firewall has been smoothed giving a clean presentation of the engine. This truck also features an aluminum radiator, new doors, stainless 18-gallon fuel tank, new bumpers, new rear fenders and much more. This truck is painted in a mouth watering Organic Green which is a House of Kolor Paint. It also has subtle brown colored accents. This Organic Green color swarms the truck from the engine and through the interior as well. Walking around the truck, if you re not drooling to much you will notice a fresh new Oak bed that has been stained and polyurethane, and a new chrome grille. The interior of this truck is just as clean as the outside. With brown ultra-leather interior, it keeps the color scheme flowing from the inside out. You can monitor the trucks performance through the classic instrument cluster. This truck is a solid mix of classic styling with modern amenities. This truck has been restored in detail and even has square weaved carpet as well. If your looking for a turn key show truck, this is the one for you. 1955 Chevrolet 3100 Shortbed Pickup Truck that has already had some serious time and money invested in to it. Located within the photos you will find that this Truck has a lot of solid points and comes with a lot of additional parts. The frame of this Truck is solid and the body of this Truck is mostly solid. It has had new cab corners installed and still requires the new cab pieces installed (please see photos). The bed of the Truck, fenders, firewall, roof, hood, A-pilars, it is all solid. Included with the Truck is a very nice front bumper. The Truck has had a brand new front disc brake kit installed and a good running 350 installed with a 350 Turbo transmission. The engine was pulled from a later model Chevy and has been mounted properly. From what I was told by the previous owner is that with a good carburetor and a tune up, it could be running in a day. I have included a four barrel carburetor that will need rebuilt. The interior of the Truck is in fairly decent shape. The bench seat is in good shape and has seat belts installed. Have a clear title for this Truck. -Vehicle is on consignment and at our clients home -Please Call First and talk to a rep at 231-468-2809 EXT 1 -Showroom is by appointment only Please Call -If you would like a FREE Listing please visit our consignment page or Call
