If your in the market for a cool classic but still want to do some work to it you are in luck. Most the time when you find a car that needs work it is rusted out and would be a money pit. That is not the case here. This classic 1955 Cadillac Series 62 is well on its way to being a beautiful show car and needs very little to be completed. That gives you a chance to get your hands in on the build process without having to do the extensive work that has gotten it this far. Scroll down to see a list of the things left to do to the car. The two door hardtop is coated in the original style yellow with metallic green hard top (Paint Code 40-44). The car was completely disassembled and media blasted before receiving the new paint job which has a great shine. The body is laser straight and the paint was entirely wet sanded and buffed to a great finish. It was a Texas car its entire life and is currently with its second owner. Every chrome piece was removed and rechromed with all the stainless being polished and buffed out. All of the rubber seals on the car were replaced which is a time consuming task that really makes a difference when it comes to wind noise. The car left the factory with accessory options E-H which include the E-Z eye glass, fog lights, 3.07 gear ratio, and the heating system. The deck lid crest is brand new which surprisingly is a very pricey item. All of the side window glass has been replaced and are in perfect shape. Every nut and bolt on the car was media blasted and then cad plated which really shows the attention to detail. This isnt a project car where your going to spend time fixing other peoples work. This thing was done right and with no corners cut has the potential to be one of the nicest old Cadillacs around. The car rides on the original style wheels and hubcaps with brand new white wall tires. Moving on to the engine you will see a smooth running 331 V8 that has no issues. The car has been entirely converted to a 12 volt system which will save you some money and time not having to chase down those 6 volt parts. The top end has been completely rebuilt with various new parts being added. These parts include the new generator, power steering pump, original style battery, water pump, fuel pump, and starter. The new dual exhaust system puts a little extra rumble out of the car which has a great sound. All of the lines are routed along the frame with both painted and finished off well. The brake system was entirely rebuilt to insure it never lets you down. The power steering system is also in place making the car much easier to drive than most classics. When a car is being restored a lot of time the gas tank just sits. In the case of this car it was entirely refurbished to insure no old gas ever gets back in the system. In the interior is where you will find the most work needing to be done. Dont let that scare you away though because the dash is not included and is completely finished off. It is left in the original style which is absolutely gorgeous. All of the interior molding was media blasted and repainted. Most of this molding is in place and ready to go. All of the light lenses are brand new which is another feature that people tend to over look. Things Left To Do Repair rocker panel molding Adjust windows Misc electrical Install rear window molding Needs headliner, upholstery and door panels recovered Vs and crest bezels on hood and deck lid need replating Need front crest Power steering gear box need shaft seals Finish clamping exhaust Fine tune motor Install second heater blower Install interior trim Needs shifter knob Needs new shocks This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for a light project. It is already on its way and needs very little to be finished. These cars are very popular and when finished you will be in good position to even make a profit! Ask around and you will see the investment value alone is worth the buy! This is a great investment at $29,850.00!
Cadillacs were truly the envy of the world when this 1955 Series 62 hardtop was built. Cutting-edge technology, big performance, and unparalleled eye appeal made them unquestionably the Standard of the World. Today, they still carry a legendary reputation, and if youre the sort who likes traditional American luxury, this car combines that big 50s look with some modern tech. While the legend of the pink Cadillac has grown, theres still nothing like a big, black Cadillac to really command respect. The handsome two-tone white-over-black combination on this big hardtop is a great example thats striking in a low-profile kind of way. It also helps minimize the enormous size of the Series 62, even the 2-doors like this, which were wonderfully opulent machines. With great bodywork that emphasizes the generous curves, up to and including the P51-inspired tailfins, which had not yet grown to grotesque proportions. Chrome (and there is A LOT of it here) is in very good condition, from the pointed Dagmars up front (look it up) to the distinctive faux air vents just behind the doors that were an evolution of the 1954 design, everything has been polished to a high shine. Even the original EZI glass is still in place and all but unobtainable today. The interior is done in period style, but there are a whole lot of upgrades. It starts with tufted seats that emulate the original look with the comfort of a more breathable fabric (the original was probably a combination of vinyl and some synthetic cloth). Two wide bench seats provide unparalleled comfort, and legroom is expansive front and rear. Matching door panels, new carpets, and black paint on the dash give it a cosmopolitan air that suggests an artist at work here, and all the little trim bits shine brightly. From behind the wheel, you can instantly see the upgrades, starting with the billet steering wheel on a tilt column, plus a full set of Auto Meter gauges in a custom panel that slots neatly into the original dash. Under-dash A/C has been added, as well as a digital AM/FM stereo radio and power windows for the front doors. The massive trunk has simple cloth mats and carries its spare inside along with a remote-mounted battery. Cadillacs 331 cubic inch V8 engine was still the talk of the industry in 1955, but thats not to say a great thing cant be made better. Today, this Cadillac carries a 6.0 liter LS V8 from a late-model pickup, and the improvement in performance is shocking. It starts easily and idles perfectly, a direct result of OEM software running the show, and the flat torque curve is ideal for the big, heavy Caddy. Performance is brisk, with a smooth, expensive-sounding hum from the well-damped Flowmaster dual exhaust system. They worked to keep the engine bay looking fairly OEM, although the big aluminum radiator, Vortec engine cover, and dual reservoir master cylinder give it away somewhat. The 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission is a durable, reliable piece and this big yacht will cruise at modern highway speeds effortlessly thanks to highway gears in the original rear end. Power steering and brakes are mandatory on a beast this size, and 235/75/15 whitewall radials wear Cadillac wheelcovers to complete the illusion. Nothing could touch Cadillacs combination of luxury and performance in the 50s, and it made them an icon. The only thing that can make it better is modern reliability, comfort and performance, and this big Cadillac definitely delivers. Call today!
