This MG has recently had some tune up work done including going through the braking system and has no problem stopping quickly and safely. The tank filter and fuel lines were removed and cleaned, plus a fuel filter added. The TF was only produced between 1953 and 1955 and was the last of the T-Series before it was replaced by the MGA. There was a total of roughly 9,602 MG TF s produced between 53 and 55 making these few and far between today. This MG is powered by a strong running 1250cc 1.3L I4. The engine was rebuilt roughly 1500 miles ago by 5R Restoration making this car run like a top. Speaking of tops, the beauty features a convertible top that is in good condition along with the side windows as well. With an ample amount of restoration work done between 2009 and 2013 this car is in good condition. The work completed include: new brake system, front suspension rebuilt, rebuilt carburetor, bored and honed block .60, new crank shaft, cleaned heads and much more. Designed in response to the decrease in sales of the TD, the TF served as the last of the T-series Midget cars before the MGA was launched in the fall of 1955. The TF featured the same frame and drivetrain as the TD, however a slight face-lift was applied to the design. The front fenders were reshaped to incorporate the headlights, taking away the T-series, pre-war appearance. MG also shortened and raked the front grill, which allowed the hood to sit lower and improve aerodynamics. On the inside, individual bucket seats were now standard which helped to give the driver and passenger a sportier feel. The proven XPAG engine was given the Mark II TD treatment with larger carburetors, an increased compression ratio and larger valves, which increased power output to 58hp. The TF’s increased performance combined with the classic MG style today resonates with both collectors and enthusiasts. The MG TF was an updated TD that hit the market in 1953. Key features included updated mechanicals, faried headlights, sloping radiator grill and a new pressurized cooling system. An improved 8.1:1 compression ratio, stronger valve springs and larger carburettors increased. 1954 MG TF In 1980 the remains of the MG Car Company, under British Leyland, authorized Victor Antique Auto (AKA Great Lakes Motor Car of Rochester, New York) to build a very limited number of 25th Anniversary Tribute Vehicles to what many considered to be the combination of MGs finest accomplishments in terms of both styling and performance. They set out to combine the legendary 1954/55 MGTF body with MGB running gear. Only 17 of these 25 custom bodied vehicles are known to still exist and the Black Widow you are viewing is believed to be the final one (#25) of these extremely faithful MG-based generic reproductions approved by British Leyland to be assembled. (Four are still in England and this may be the only one presently on the East Coast.) This one-of-a-kind deluxe model passed through three different owners in three states over nearly 30 years before finally being nearly fully assembled from 2006 to 2010 by a retired engineer. The current owner (who also briefly owned a 1952 MGTD in 1972) purchased the car in July 2010 in Kentucky with only 205 miles on the odometer, and undertook to have it completed and titled, registered and tagged for the first time ever/anywhere in Delaware in August 2010. Exterior A combination of steel, and a majority molded from original steel fiberglass parts make up this factory body, with straight panels and consistent gaps between them. Curving fenders, sloping to the small running board attach to each side. A classic long hood, and very short sloping back say true MG early design. This Deluxe last model comes equipped with an extremely rare MG Midge hood ornament with an engraved radiator cap, custom hamper (picnic basket), with monogrammed pewter octagon plates, all side curtains, and 15 rare and valuable car club badges. Good condition convertible top moves manually up and down, but you need to know what you are doing to complete this task! Spoked knockoff style wheels are on all 4 corners, as well as on the spare. Interior Deep red leather buckets offer amazingly comfortable seating in a very small cockpit. A padded leather dash covers the top of the dash in an eyebrow style adds a wonderful contrast to the custom walnut fascia/dashboard. Seen within the dash are new gauges, and a navigation screen. Black carpeting grounds everything and presents in very nice condition. Drivetrain This vehicle uses a completely rebuilt engine with a modernized drive-train (5-bearing 1800cc/95bhp engine, 4-speed synchromesh-transmission, front disc brakes, suspension, heater, etc.) from a 1969 MGB, placed on a sturdier than original custom-built frame/chassis that also accommodates an exact reproduction in mostly fiberglass of the 1954 TF body. Titled a 1954 MG TF, but all the trappings of modernization. It has won over 200 local, regional, and national awards/trophies. There are a great many spare parts mostly that came with the car prior to the upgrading and finishing to its current state.

A lovely car, last owner for many years, in dry storage for more than 20 years, 23,000 indicated miles. Really excellent body, went over it with a magnet (looking for bondo) and found none, as perfect a TF body as we have ever seen, excellent chassis, wood framing, can't find any rust or rot. Engine runs smoothly and revs quickly, has perfect oil pressure, doesn't smoke, quiet valves, transmission works well....good synchromesh, doesn't pop out of gear, diff is quiet. Chrome, for the most part, appears to be new and the irreplaceable grills shell is very very nice. Rubber trim, welting, seals, engine bay, all very nice. Painted under the wings, clean chassis, doesn't seem to leak oil, starts instantly, strong (for a TF) performance. Wire wheels (the most desirable TF factory option), top and side curtains appear to be virtually new, new tonneau just fitted, bright red (repainted once, we were told) with black interior, new radials, brakes just done, carbs just cleaned and adjusted, all gauges work properly, wiper motor just cleaned and adjusted, charges properly, runs and drives very well. For a very clean 'unrestored' car with possibly very low original miles, it is as nice as one might expect to find. Certainly suitable for low key shows and ready for the proverbial country roads and general use. The most attractive and rarest of the post war MG T Series cars and really the best bargain in a usable collector's car in the price range.
Beautiful restored example having covered only 50,000 certified miles since new and having undergone a complete body off rebuild/ restoration. Creme with tan leather, creme cloth weather equipment and tonneau cover, even a spare tire cover. Rebuilt engine, excellent transmission, brakes just done, all original gauges have been rebuilt and work properly (and all knobs and other dash details are new), new cloth wiring harness, mostly new chrome, the is complete and almost endless. Ready for dairy use, show, or whatever use the next owner cares for. Not much to add....has proper driving lights, wind winds, matching seat belts, not that many options available for an MG TF. But the condition, virtually ever rubber gasket and seal is new, original grille was rechromed, windshield uprights and surround are excellent, everything else almost like new. On the road, all of the usual TF virtues....light, precise steering, sure brakes, lively engine, sweet shifting, and (of course) such classic aspects as a folding windshield, cut down doors, superb ride, and great handling. And with only 9600 TFs built, a sure bet as an appreciating classic.
