With a professional restoration meticulously finished in 2012, this 1954 Jaguar XK120 Drop Head convertible is truly a sight to behold. The XK120 was the fastest production car of its day and was a strong competitor on race day winning a few 24-hour endurance races including Mt. Druitt in Australia back in 1954. The 120 represented the top speed right from the factory. This XK120 is in excellent shape and has had a few minor upgrades bringing it up to date and making it an excellent driver s car including converting the electrical system to 12 volt from 6 volt, an electronic ignition, electric fan for optimal cooling, and a tremec 5-speed manual transmission adding synchros in all gears and an overdrive gear. These upgrades do not take away from the original looks of the car but increase the drivability dramatically. Redone just this last year in 2017 included the top end of the engine rebuilt with new valve seats for pump gas, rebuilt SU carburetors, rebuilt brake cylinders on all corners, new plugs and wires installed, and in 2018 the interior was reupholstered, and the paint was ceramic coated for ease of cleaning. This Jaguar is a stunning car both to drive and admire and would make the perfect addition to a collection or dream car for a Jaguar enthusiast. This vehicle is located in our Denver showroom. British Classic Restoration, Kensington, Maryland, is pleased to offer this 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE, in running and driving order. The car is very original and extremely solid for its age (as attached pictures will show). It even sports its original paint which is in need of attention but usable as is. This is an estate car, from Virginia near Richmond and found in very good order. The interior is complete and newer, with plush leather seats and wool carpets. The body is rock solid and shows no signs of accident damage or rust; seams are all excellent and the doors shut with a solid "thunk"! The sills and door shut pillars are all very solid - these are usually weak points on these cars. The aluminum hood and boot are straight and without kinks - another usual problem. The boot is rock solid with spare tire tray in solid condition. The chrome is shiny and will not embarrass anyone. The engine bay is very clean with evidence of new (non-original) wiring probably added for safety and practicality. This is an "SE" (Special Edition). The SE head on the motor (see pictures with number) is the racing version and much more powerful and sought after. The motor starts readily, and has the classic Jaguar throaty (rorty) sound (see video attached). The oil pressure is excellent at plus 40lbs at idle. Underneath, while the car has not been detailed one might think it had been. It is very very clean and rust and grease free (an attest to being kept in climate controlled storage). Again, there is no evidence of structural damage. The electrics all work as they should with no issues. (see pictures attached). The hydraulics are in working order. The fabric top is in good order but showing its age, but rear vinyl window is clear. A set of original side curtains are with the car, in good order, and show well. The original painted wire wheels (SE Spec) are in good order but the tyres are old and should be replaced. Some additional information:- Prior to sale the car will receive a tune-up including points, plugs, condenser, points, etc. -In addition the car has received an oil change and filter.- Fluids were changed/flushed: Transmission, Diff, Brakes, Radiator.-Tie rod ends on both right and left have been replaced.Thank you, serious inquiries invited.
Same owner since 1974, 44 years! Very well maintained, has a folder stuffed with 4 decades of receipts. Its a great looking driver. The owner says drive it anywhere. He drove it to Volo on a hot day from over an hour away. He drove it back home and returned with it the next day with no troubles. EXTERIOR: It has a beautiful glossy red finish. Believe it or not this paint job is 30 years old. It still shows really well, standing next to it I would think its new. The body is straight and fits nice. Once you stop and look for flaws there are a few scratches, touch ups and blisters. In 2008 the painted wheels were upgraed with new chrome wires. In back the chrome tail lights and license plate light look new, the bumperettes look good original. The windshield frame is original and the chrome shows its age. Up front headlight bezels, bumpers, grill, mirrors are excellent. The convertible top is replaced, rick black canvas. The original side windows are restored with new black canvas. INTERIOR: The black upholstery with red piping is in very nice shape. The side panels andpadded edge around the cockpit are also really nice. The steering wheel is not cracked, dash area and gauges are very nice. It has the factory plaque stating the car is capable of 132.6 mph. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The metal is real clean and painted red. The upper deck has the original black mat and the underside of trunk lid has original liner. Included is a wire wheel spare, original jack, tire pump and tools. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The dual overhead cam engine was completely rebuilt and upgraded to the M 180 hp version. The motor compartment looks respectable. It has been maintained. Over the years its had rebuilt carbs, new fuel pump and it was rewired. UNDERSIDE: Looks very solid. Upgraded with XKE disc brakes in front. Recent stainless exhaust system. Over the years it has been properly maintained. The front end was rebuilt, trans rebuilt, new clutch, gas tank replaced etc. This is one of the last XK120s built, 93rd from the last. Because of a,shortage of parts the factory used some XK140 parts like flat seat backs, flat horn bottom and curved emergency brake handle. Good documented history is very desirable and this car has it! Chrome wire wheels Tools Side windows Lap belts
