These cars were a common sight on the roads after the war. People were getting back to visiting relatives, running errands and taking the family to the beach or mountains on vacation. The Deluxe was a good looking, roomy car with plenty of space for luggage, and it still is. Riding around in this car feels like riding around in 1951. This car has been nicely restored in its original color of Thistle Gray. Its a soft color that makes you feel a bit better just by looking at it. It has a nice shine to it and the light reflects off the gentle curves of the hood and fenders as it rolls down the street. The front of the car leads with a substantial amount of chrome with a rocket on top of the hood and a bowtie badge on the front of it. Wide chrome running from side to side surrounds the grill of fine horizontal lines in the center. Marker lights are mounted to the sides and a wraparound bumper underlines it all. An adjustable body colored sunshade protects the driver from glare and there is a streak of chrome running down the side of the car. Wheel spats dress out the rear fender wells and a ridge of chrome runs along the top of the fenders. Open the door and you will find an interior that invites you in to go for a ride. It has also been restored to factory original colors. Gray paint tops the door panel with light gray broadcloth and darker gray vinyl trimming out the middle and bottom. A thistle gray two spoke steering wheel has a full circular horn ring with a Chevy bowtie over a coat of arms in the center and the shifter for the manual transmission is mounted on the column just behind it. The dash is gray on top with thistle in the center where the gauges are set. The gauge bezels are wonderfully original with the patina of age on them and the center of the dash is chrome. The seats have been freshly reupholstered in gray broadcloth and the headliner as well as the carpets have also been replaced. It is a roomy, comfortable place to travel in and there is plenty of room in the trunk so dont worry about having to pack efficiently. Under the hood you will find a tried and true 216 cubic inch in-line 6-cylinder engine. It is sitting down in a neat and clean engine bay that is nicely detailed out. The casting numbers on the engine indicate it is the proper one for the car, so it could be the original engine, but it is impossible to determine that for certain. There is a black oil bath air cleaner feeding a 2-barrel Rochester carburetor which flows into stock intake and exhaust manifolds. There are newer belts and hoses and a new battery is charged by a new generator. An aluminum radiator keeps things running cool. Power flows back through a 3-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels set on leaf springs. The front is a coil spring setup and drum brakes all around handle the stopping duties. The car sits on body color steel wheels with Chevy bowtie center caps and 205/75R15 white wall tires. Good looking, comfortable, roomy and stylish. Take a ride back to 1951 and see how it feels. If it feels good, take it home with you so you can go back there anytime you wish.

Over $60,000 invested. Yes, it is beautiful and can be proudly displayed at any car show, but its strong point is driveability. It just completed a round trip to South Dakota. It is comfortable and reliable. It also has an alluring look, people have really been drawn to it the first few days weve had it. EXTERIOR: The fastback design is desirable. The color is really great too. I immediately liked it and then it was confirmed by other peoples compliments. There is little flakes that glisten in the sun. It is polished out like glass. The body is clean and straight, the car is from California. There is some nice looking hand painted pin striping. The bumpers were rechromed, grill is good original, stainless thin has been polished real nice. In back it has had some custom work to clean it up. Any trim was removed and filled on the trunk and hood, the rear fender seams were filled smooth. The taillights are custom and a 3rd brake light was added. Polished Torque Thrust wheels look great on any car, especially this one. INTERIOR: Very comfortable and roomy inside. Its been very nicely upholstered. The seats match the door panels. Headliner has been replaced, visors are redone, mirror is new. It does have the original gauges, but theyve been rebuilt and converted to work with the 12 volt system. The clock is converted to quartz. Has a polished tilt steering column and beautiful banjo style steering wheel. The lower dash was reconfigured to accommodate the stereo system and AC controls. The wipers were upgraded to electric. The stereo system is modern with bluetooth. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Super reliable crate 350 right from GM Goodwrench service counter. They come fully assembled right down to having oil in them. They chose an Edelbrock carb with electric choke. It has a new heat and a/c system. There is also new cruise control system, power steering and power brakes. New large aluminum radiator with dual electric fans keeps it running cool. The motor compartment is proper and dressed with some chrome. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is all carpeted with sewn edges, even the tire cover. Has a jack. The battery is relocated to the trunk and its mounted in a plastic case. New weatherstrip seal on the trunk lid. UNDERSIDE: Upfront it has a Nova subframe. I dont see any patches. The car is from California. If you want a car that is comfortable and reliable but still turns heads, this is it. Ready to go wherever you want it to take you and you wont have to spend a week polishing the underside after every use! Mixing undeniable vintage charm with just the right level of tasteful customization to arrive at an awesome result, this 1951 Chevrolet Deluxe Coupe is about as fresh off its restoration as a classic can be. Its a very distinctive looking ride with plenty of road-readiness to offer a great driving experience. The exterior of this 51 is clad in Bittersweet - a unique shade of orange thats a little darker than you normally see, with an almost muted quality to it. Its nice and evenly applied in this setting with a smooth reflective shine. There are some really sharp features on display here - swing around to the back and youll see that the rear windshield sports a three-piece design unmatched by any other car, while up front, youll find signature Chevrolet lettering imprinted right into the chrome grille. With its one of a kind roofline and muscular rear fenders, this Chevy cuts an especially striking appearance when viewed from the side. This classic features nice, tight body lines, with even gaps surrounding its hood, doors and deck lid to allow them to open and close smoothly. The glass surrounding the cabin - including those distinctive segmented front and rear windshields - is nice and clear. Inside the doors lies a very well-detailed interior, with front buckets and a rear bench seat dressed in sharp white vinyl covers with tuck and roll orange inserts that match the door panels. A custom center console sits between the buckets to offer both welcome storage space and cupholders, as well as a convenient place to rest an elbow while driving. Just in front of the stock steering wheel, youll find a dash area thats been skillfully refurbished, with a factory tachometer sitting at its center, an assortment of crystal clear gauges in the instrument cluster and a very nice stretch of chrome accenting. An underdash air conditioning system was added to cool the cabin and a new compressor sits under the hood, but it does still require some servicing to get it back online. The trunk area in back is in good shape, with tan carpeting lining its floor and inner fenders to produce a finished look. A modern 350 cubic inch V8 powers this classic. Its equipped with an Edelbrock intake manifold and 4-barrel carb sitting underneath a chrome air cleaner on top, as well as a pair of chrome valve covers on its sides. Elsewhere in the engine compartment, an upgraded Accel distributor maximizes spark and a nicely sized aluminum radiator helps keep temperatures in check. The powerplant teams with a 4 speed 700r4 automatic transmission whose overdrive gear really comes in handy on the highway. Youll notice the benefits of the featured Mustang II front end right away - it not only provides a nice ride in everyday driving conditions, but also equips this coupe with smooth power rack and pinion steering, as well as power front disc brakes for fade resistant stops made all the more dependable with recently replaced brake lines. This vintage Chevy provides a great driving experience as it rolls on a set of 17 American Racing wheels that are outfitted with Advantage T/A tires. Below, the undercarriage looks very stable and features floor pans and suspension components that appear quite solid. This 1951 Chevrolet Deluxe Coupe is equal parts eye-catching vintage cruiser and aggressive street machine and would be a great acquisition for the classic enthusiast looking to add a truly compelling ride to their garage.
