HISTORY OF THE WILLYS JEEP CJ-2A After World War II, Willys-Overland saw a market need for a general purpose Civilian Jeep or “CJ” that could be used in a variety of applications. In 1945, the company unveiled the CJ-2A, which closely resembled its military predecessor with its flat fenders and side mounted spare tire. While the military version featured flush mounted head lights and nine slots for cooling air passage, the 2A was given larger headlights and a seven slot grille; a trademark which can still be seen on Jeeps today. Willys originally marketed the four-wheel drive CJ-2A as a perfect vehicle for the farmer or rancher though many World War II servicemen also remembered the Jeep’s off-roading capabilities during the war. This interest pushed the CJ-2A to record sales. The CJ-2A was produced until 1949 though their rugged simplicity and timeless design still appeals to collectors and enthusiasts across the globe to this day. Please visit www.schmitt.com to view our full inventory.

Worldwide Vintage Autos is pleased to present this 1948 Willys CJ2A. HISTORY The Willys CJ2A was one of the civilian jeep designs put out by Willys after the completion of the war. Similar in most ways to the Willys MB, Willys CJ vehicles, including the Willys CJ2A, incorporated design alterations to include vacuum-powered windshield wipers, a tailgate and civilian lighting.Production on the Willys CJ2A started July 17, 1945, sharing production time with the MBs. The CJ2A had two distinct series, often referred to as Very Early Civilian (VEC) and Early Civilian (EC) CJ2As. The EC CJ2A is considered to have been in production from mid-1946 to mid-1947.Early CJ2As, using many Willys MB parts, featured a civilianized MB with larger Willys headlights and a side-mounted spare tire. As the MB parts began to run out, later CJ2A jeeps featured design, and thus parts changes, including chrome headlight trims, chrome rear tail lamp doors, chrome rear reflectors and more. Later changes included paint colors, offering a wider variety of body paint colors, as opposed to the two colors that the early Willys CJ2As came in.SOURCE: KAISERWILLYS.COMSPECIFICS / BUILD INFORMATION EXTERIOR:Gold Metallic Paint.Mickey Thompson Radial Tires.
