Here is a great running and very solid all steel 1940 Ford Super Deluxe 4 door. This car is in great condition. It has a newer model 59AB Flathead 8 cylinder engine that purrs like a kitten. We just put replaced both water pumps with new one. It still has the original 3 speed on the column and it shifts out great. The clutch feels great. The car has been painted for a while but still shows well. The interior is in excellent shape. The seats look great as does the door panels, headliner and carpet. The dash has the original gauges and looks amazing. The trunk area looks good as does the undercarriage. No signs of rust in floors or anywhere that I have seen. It starts easy and runs so smooth. The windows roll up and down good. There are even seat belts for both front and back seats. The bumpers, grill and all the chrome looks very good. The 1940 Ford body style was and still is one of the best looking Ford ever made. Look at the pics of this beauty.
Here is a beautiful 1940 Ford Deluxe 4 door sedan. It has a great running 59AB flathead engine. This engine runs so smooth. The 3 speed on column shifts good and the clutch feels good with no chattering. It starts easy even after sitting and when weather is cold. It is still on the 6 volt system. The body is super solid and the Burgandy paint looks very good. All the chrome is nice. The piece of chrome that goes down the hood has some pitting but this piece is hard to find and not bad enough worry about. The wide whitewall tires set this car off and even has a matching spare in the trunk. The trunk area look good. The gray interior is also in stunning condition. The seats, carpet, door panels and headliner all in A-1 condition. The original gauges all appear to be working. The wipers have been converted to electric and work good. The passenger left side door glass does have a crack but it is flat glass so not expensive to replace if you so desired. The windows roll up and down good. The doors all close good. This is just a good running and driving 1940 Ford Sedan ready to be enjoyed.
This is one seriously stylish vintage cruiser with traditional street rod flames. The rust free, all steel body was a perfect starting point for keeping the iconic lines of the 40 Ford original while updating it with modern running gear. It is the same roomy, comfortable car it always was, but is faster, drives better, and you gotta admit, the flames are pretty awesome. Paint jobs are never easy to get right, but at least this car didnt need any repairs or panel adjustments before getting down to the surface prep. Once that Black paint was laid down and it was certain that it would catch the light and reflect it back along the graceful curves of the body, then those traditional flames were laid out on the front and painted on. The view from directly in front is awesome. It leads with Yellow paint and a line of chrome running down the center of the hood splitting the polished Art Deco grill that is flanked by chromed tear drop headlights. It is all underlined by a sharp looking chrome bumper and grill guard. The flames trail off on the hood and fenders leaving the curve of the roof heading down over the split rear window and trunk as the focus of attention at the back. A Ford V8 badge graces the trunk lid and chevron shaped taillights are underlined by another shiny chrome bumper. Open the door and you will find a neat and clean interior with some nice modern upgrades. The door panel is simple in gray with a dark gray accent across the top and dark gray carpet on the bottom. The bench seat follows the same pattern with dark gray accents and piping on light gray. A late model GM tilt steering column has a two-spoke wheel with a Ford center and a billet end on the shifter for the automatic transmission. The dash panel has a nice set of VDO gauges with a speedometer in the center with fuel, oil, water, and voltage meters to each side of it. There is a Clarion AM/FM/Cassette player for your listening pleasure and a placard on the glove box door indicates participation at the 1997 Indy 500 with the Good Guys group. The glass in the car is all new and there is plenty of room both front and rear, so traveling in this car is a pleasure. Pop the hood and you will find outline flames on the underside and a tried and true 302 cubic inch V8 nestled down inside the engine bay. A chrome air filter assembly tops the engine and feeds an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake manifold. Finned aluminum Cobra valve covers look great and an MSD ignition sends the spark out through red plug wires. Signs of good routine maintenance include newer belts and hoses. Exhaust flows out through stock manifolds to a dual exhaust system with cutouts exiting under the running boards in the event you wish to make a little noise. Power is sent back through a 3-speed automatic transmission to a 9 Ford rear end. The front end is a Mustang II set up with coil springs, rack and pinion steering and disc brakes. The car sits on Coker wide white wall tires that are 225/75R15 in the rear and 205/75R15s in the front, mounted on old school steel wheels that are black and red with a polished ring and Ford center cap. A classic street rod with traditional flames. A solid, nice driving, comfortable car to cruise in. Come on down and check it out. You may decide to cruise on home with it.
This car is a show stopper and a show winner! It has a super slick paint job that shines like its wet all the time and an interior that is modern art rendered in mixed media. It will be an object of envy for many and one of desire for others. Maybe you? Fair warning. Numerous buffing and polishing wheels were injured in the building of this car. Before that gorgeous Silver and Orange two tone paint was laid on this car, a tremendous amount of time was spent in the preparation and adjustment of the body panels. Also, please spend some time checking out the underside of this car too. The fit and finish of the chassis is almost more impressive than the body because there are so many components with so many nooks and crannies and they are all as shiny and spotless as the topside. Up front that three-piece grill of horizontal lines reaches all the way to the ground. The hood starts with a narrow nose and sweeps back, engulfing the cab of the car and flowing over the trunk with that delicious shade of Orange. Notice also that theres not a door handle, latch or emblem disturbing that flow. Chevron shaped taillights grace the rear fenders and twin chrome tailpipes peek out through the bodywork. Open the door and you will find an interior that has been hand crafted in Gray, Cream, and Chrome. The door panel has arcing shapes that mimic the lines of the car. The dash brings a little of the Orange in along the top edge and then dresses the rest of it in Silver. Classic Instruments gauges create the perfect look with the speedometer and tach in front of the driver and smaller gauges for fuel, oil, water and voltage in a line toward the right side. A Billet Specialties steering wheel is mounted on a tilt column and a Lokar shifter falls easily to hand. An Alpine FM/CD player is mounted in the center console for your listening pleasure and there is a Ford emblem proudly displayed just above it. The power bucket seats are super comfortable and finished out in ultra-leather with cream centers and gray bolsters. A custom headliner and nice carpeting tie the look together very nicely. Under that long, tapered hood you will find an LT1 crate motor that is nicely dressed out nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay with a flush firewall. A free flow air filter feeds a Holley throttle body and intake plenum with runners that look awesome getting the air to those free-flowing heads. Shorty headers get the spent gasses to a fully ceramic coated exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. Chrome and polished pieces include the air conditioning compressor and the alternator as well as a polished aluminum radiator to keep things running cool. Power flows back through a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive to the rear wheels with chrome shocks and leaf springs. Up front, coil over springs and power rack and pinion steering help the car handle nicely. The rubber meets the road through 225/75R15 tires in the rear and 195/65R15 in the front, all mounted on Billet Specialties wheels. This car is an absolutely beautiful piece of automotive workmanship and art. Come on down and check it out. You may decide to take it home with you and start showing it off. And thats cool. Its got a huge trunk to bring the chairs with you to the show, and to bring the trophies home with you on the way back.
The 1940 Ford Deluxe Sedan is a true pre-WWII icon. With flathead V8 power and a sleek style, they are a true treat. So as you look over all the details on this quite correct example, you soon realize how much nostalgia it packs for quite an obtainable price. There was an investment in the burgundy paint, and it suites this two-door sedan perfectly. Its a sophisticated hue for a dignified classic. Plus, the high level of gloss lets the shine roll evenly off of some of our favorite elements, like the large fenders, tall roof, and aerodynamic rear. This had some absolutely terrific bright work with the pointed grille, artful headlight surrounds, and the rounded bumpers with intricate detail work. Plus, the way the side trim runs from head to tail like an unbroken line tell you about the quality of the body. And we especially love the correct two-piece Ford Deluxe wheel covers with details like the color-matched steel wheels and whitewall tires. Inside there was an investment while retaining the original style. The exterior burgundy returns on the metal parts, and no its joined by a comfortable tan on the seats, door panels, and carpeting. We like the classic texture of the cloth seat, and you can feel the investment simply because something that was nearly 80 years-old could never be this comfortable. This is a true vintage experience with the correct Deluxe-style gauges, art deco dash, and even the clock was correctly repaired. The dual spoke steering wheel retains the groves of its lifetime, so you can feel the generations of drivers that came before you. Theres just something great about the appearance of Fords Flathead V8. The parallel radiator piping gives this motor a very powerful presentation. It has been serviced correctly - including a new water pump, electrical work, belt, solenoid, and much more in 2017 (call for all the details.) And yes, this has been converted to 12 volts and an alternator for easy driving in modern times. While we know you wont be using this Ford as a hot rod, the glasspack-style dual exhaust and column-shifted three-speed manual really let you understand the full power behind this V8. This classic 40 Ford makes every day behind the wheel feel like Sunday. So dont miss out on a great classic. Call today!

Gateway Classic Cars of Chicago is excited to offer this very unique 1940 Ford Super Deluxe Flower Car once again. If youre scratching your head thinking Ive never seen one of those before! Its probably because you most likely have not. This 1940 Ford Deluxe was produced by the Ford Motor Company and then converted by The Eureka Manufacturing Company of Rock Falls Illinois into a flower car. Essentially starting out as a 5-window coupe, the conversion lengthened the chassis and the convertible rear casket compartment was created with metal rollers and pins to store the side rails that would hold flowers in place. This car had a dual use of being enclosed with the original canvas cover for the less elaborate funerals and having the rear compartment cover removed and side rails installed for a more elaborate send off. Flower cars were popular during the middle of the century and now are rarely seen in modern funerals. While most if not all of these conversions done by Eureka were on General Motors vehicles this one being a Ford and not a Packard or Cadillac makes this highly obscure and is believed to be the only one ever made. This car was purchased new in 1940 and check out the original photos of the car being delivered. Now fast forward 78 years and you will notice that not much has really changed. This is an original, unmolested, unrestored car that still retains the original paint, original canvas cover, original interior and powertrain. Now is your chance to own something that nobody else has and enter the world of Professional Car Collectors. Surely this will be the only one at whatever show you attend and thanks to years of maintenance and recent service work performed this car is ready for the road and will cruise at highway speeds. New parts include brake shoes, wheel and master cylinders, brake hoses, rear axle seals, new points set, fuel tank, fuel pump and carburetor overhaul. Located in our Chicago showroom, this 1940 Ford Deluxe Flower Car can be seen including an HD video and pictures at www.gatewayclassiccars.com. 1940 Ford Deluxe With its wind-swept design and classic good looks, Fords DeLuxe series has always been a rare and highly desirable line of cars. Not surprisingly, gearheads, customizers and 80 years worth of dedicated fans have elevated it to one of hot roddings greatest cultural icons. This completely restored inside and out with a new engine Deluxe retains much of its original look and line, but with many upgrades and customizations. Because of its color, it could be categorized as a street rod. However due to the mostly original look exterior - wise, Id call it an original looking sedan with plenty of bling. Either way, all the work has been done, you just need to turn the key and drive away! Exterior Screaming yellow drapes this entire car, and presents in good condition. Newly restored running boards connect beautiful curving fenders. To accentuate the hood and the fender shape, 2 pinstripes, one brown the other maroon, cut through the lower part of the car from front to rear, and allow your eye to take a break from the yellow. Allowing your eye to wander to the front, a beautiful art nouveau inspired grille curves many ways and creates the iconic look for the Deluxe. In fender headlights, with turn indicators imbedded on top, keep the clean aerodynamic look. A downward swooping rear roof that melts right into the trunk lid has a split oval glass atop, and the trunk lid that curves its way to the simple arched bumper. The beautiful thing about this car is the use of curves, as there is truly nary a straight line on this car. Interior Completely restored, and modernized, we see herringbone fabric in gray, covering the two Cougar power buckets, and door panels. A matching headliner covers the interior roof. The black metal dash with a rectangular chromed instrument area, and white background gauges. A power cowl vent switch, and Vintage air and heat allow you to cruise year round. AM/FM Stereo with 10 CD capabilities will keep you in tunes for the trip and more. Fronting the dash is a LeCarra steering wheel. Drivetrain A lift of the hood reveals a clean engine bay with a 76 Chevy 350ci engine, within hides a Crane cam, and on top is fed by an Edelbrock 600 CFM intake. A new Vega steering box, and Mallory Unilite distributor are attached. Mill exhaling takes place through Hooker Block Hugger Headers. Bolted on back is a 76 Chevy 350 automatic transmission with a shift kit. Undercarriage Viewing from underside reveals a very nicely restored frame, floorpan, and side rails. Front disc brakes, with new shocks upfront, and a new driveshaft works its way back and attached to the 69 Camaro rear with a 2.72 ratio. Rear suspension is leaf sprung with new shocks as well. All clean under here! Theres something to be said regarding a car that is an eye catcher, reliable performer, and has creature comforts to boot. This turn the key restoration of an almost 80 year old automobile, and literally can be enjoyed throughout the entire year. Very nice condition, and it not only screams to your ears, but also your eyes.
